Computer issues

I'm unsure where to put this but I'll try here. Yesterday I built a computer for the first time however I think I've gone wrong somewhere. Basically I managed to install windows xp but when I start up the computer it normally keeps restarting, but when left for long periods starts up perfectly and wont shut down for any reasons. But when installing drivers I obviously have to restart so you can see how frustrating this is. Also, the computer sometimes starts up and then the motherboard gives a staggered beep and nothing displays. I don't believe it's a power supply issue as when everything starts up normally there is no stability issues. This really frustarting and I have no idea were I've gone wrong so if anyone can help it would be extremely appreciated.

My system specifications are:
Ath64 3200+ (winchester core)
Tagan 480W
X850XT
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Corsair 512mbx2 (pc3200)
Apple cinema display 20"

I've been in the BIOS and the temperatures are 30 degrees celsius so I don't think it's a heating problem either.

*Can I just add...it seems that the computer doesn't even display the BIOS or load up screen anymore

is the BIOS up-to-date? I had issues with my DFI and had to flash it to get M$ to cooperate...

There is a faq going around at dfi-street.com to help, I'd post a link but I don't have it since I am on my g/f's 'puter...

Clear the CMOS first and see if it POSTs with default BIOS settings... read the FAQ there, it was really helpful!

Cheers.I'll try clearing the CMOS and check out dfi's website. By the way, is there an faq floating around on how to update BIOS' for this board? Sorry but I'm new to all this :D.

DFI website should give specific instructions for flashing that board. Depends on the kind of Bios and stuff like that.

Sorry for not replying for awhile. It turns out my graphics wasn't seated properly

. Although, the system has been working flawlessly, I now cannot boot and get a 'nvidia boot agent' issue were this is displayed and then the system does not boot-up. The system is setup to boot: Removable then HDD (my hardrive is a WD and uses a SATA cable btw) then CD-ROM. Aghhh! This was working so well not so long ago. Can anyone find the remedy for this?

Again sorry for not keeping everyone up to date on my situation
