the title says it all.

I don't know the make of truck yet (its not for me) BUT I want a computer (mini-itx) with 2gb of storage, 500+gb for movies, touch screen monitor (7'' lcd pop out from dash)

case, cooling and such I've got under control. the biggest things I've not any experience with is the power conversion from the vehicle power to pc power.. ad to dc or whatever. dummy that down a little for me OR link me to a converter.

things I need assistance with

1 - touch screen monitor. good suggestions? connectors/adaptors.

2 - power supply for both.

3 - solid state drives or platters?

4 - amd/intel?

we're going to be running xm radio and just porn/movies from the comp. price tag is 1200

what's the likliness of using android as the OS and some mild pc hardware?

idk, are you willing to port Android to x86?

Not to be snappy, but I'm fairly certain that Android won't run on a PC at all. Phone processors are a lot different.

and that was my thought. I've been seeing tablets and sh*t, and wondered the diff. between the newer tablets, and 'tablet laptops' that were out a few years ago.

Wouldn't it be easier and possibly even cheaper just to get a laptop?:

Was one of the big computer in a car sites in the past. They have a wiki there that might be able to help answer most of your questions.

the laptop is a great idea. gives you some battery power so you don't have to worry about having your car on all the time. also allows you to set power saving settings like hibernate/standby after battery power for 15 mins and stuff.
