Hey guy this is the first time building a computer from the ground up and i jsut wanted some inputs or suggestions for my build (n.n)
-I will be doing alot of gaming on this computer and alot of multitasking
-I will have about $1600 to spend on this computer,i live in Hawaii -.-
-also the only thing ima overclock is my CPU

Yep thats about it i think, the SSD is for my OS and games only, also im gonna only gonna overclock my CPU and reason i have the 1000w is cuz i think ima prable upgrade more in the future, also I was planning to Crossfire the GPU later on but with all this i have a few hundred to spare, gonna be ordering all these from newegg, so yeah if i can get opinions, suggestions and inputs about my first ever ground up build it would be much appreciated (n.n)v~ please dont hate too much still kinda noob at comp builds

I suggest that you re-think the entire build because $1,600 is way too high for an AMD CPU-based system that will be obsolesced in just a couple of months. (Meaning that AMD will be introducing new CPUs that will make even the current X6 1100T totally obsolete.) In addition, buying two 4GB kits would have resulted in all four of the motherboard's DIMM slots being filled just for a total of 8GB. Modern CPUs with dual-channel memory controllers can support all the way to 16GB (via four 4GB modules).
 
Hmm i see, i shall w8 for a months then, not in a rush at the moment jsut have till the end of the year and i have $1600 to spend but the parts i listed came out to be about $1000~$1200, the rest is for my monitor and keyboard/mouse. Another question is that do i have to rethink my entire build? or just think about chanigng my CPU and ram set up? cuz i was thinking of going with a P67 mobo like a ASrock extreme with a i5 2500k CPU and 2 4gig ram cards.

In addition to the CPU and motherboard, I'd also recommend changing the SSD and PSU: The suggested change to an i5-2500K and a Z68 motherboard does not require anywhere near 1000W on the PSU. With that and a HD 6870 you can do perfectly well with a 650W PSU, such as a Corsair TX650 v2 for about $90.

The Vertex 2 SSD is now outdated and significantly slower in the real world than its benchmark results would have otherwise indicated: In fact, it is noticeably slower in real-world usage than several SSDs that benchmarked only half as fast. Furthermore, OCZ replaced the 34nm NAND chips that were in the original release of that SSD with 25nm NAND flash chips that are not only even slower than the 34nm original but also far less reliable than the former. Worst of all, OCZ's customer service quality is among the very worst in the technology industry. Instead, go for an Intel 510 or a Crucial m4 SSD of around 128GB.

And you may also want to rethink that BD combo drive: Are you planning to rip or play back Blu-ray discs? That's because that Blu-ray combo can write to (or burn) DVD or CD media but only reads Blu-ray discs. If you're not going to use Blu-ray media in that PC anytime soon, you'd be better off spending much less and going with a $20 DVD burner.

Otherwise, if you'ren not buying before the end of this month, I'd suggest that you revisit this thread two to three weeks before you actually order the parts. This is because the price and availability of the components change drastically on a monthly or even weekly basis. Thus, what we recommend now may not be what we recommend a few months from now becuase parts can become outdated, obsolete, outperformed, relatively overpriced or even completely discontinued by then.

In addition to E4g1e's suggestions, you should also rethink the case as well as that particular case isn't worth the money at all at its current $137 shipped price. There are significantly better quality, roomier, and better cooling cases out there for about the same or lower price:

Thanks E4g1e u are a life saver and really helpful (n.n) i shall w8 and do more research but ill get back to this thread probably at the end of this month and see what my final decisions are and get some more opinions on this, srry for my nuubness,also

I have several more questions to ask:

We need more specifics on your "gaming and multitasking." Which games are you going to play? At what level of visual quality? Outside of gaming, which programs or tasks are you going to use most often?

You said that you're building a computer from the ground up, but you've only listed parts for the computer tower and its internals. Are you reusing your monitor(s), speakers/headphones, mouse, and keyboard? If so, what do you have? (Please be specific and give us the brands and model names/numbers to everything.)

You said that you have "about $1600" to spend. What's the most (including shipping taxes) that you're willing to spend on this system?

How long do you want this system to last? Which upgrades, if any, are you willing to make during that time frame?

Are you ready to start buying (and building) now? Or are you going to wait another month before you start buying everything?
