Hey all, need some advice/help on building a computer, right now this is what im thinking:

Cpu:San Diego

Video Card: Gforce 9800 GT

Ram: Still looking, would like 2 gigs, but not sure what to get thats not stealing the pocket book

Sound Card: audigy 2

Case: x-blade

Mother board: need suggestions, looking for possible PC-E, thanks =)

Cooling: CPU fan Possible, not sure on cpu fan yet, planing on overclocking

Case comes with a 450 power supply? think I need to look into getting a new one?

as for hard drive, getting a 120 gig 7200rpm, one from a local dealer (no link)

If i missed anything, or did a stupid mistake let me know, thanks guys, awaiting your imput =)

wow, here we all are waitin for the geforce 7800 video cards when they've already released the 9800s!!! ;) hehe jk bud...but looks pretty good so far...i have the 3700+ San Diego and it seems very fitting...i have the 6800gt (BFG) and it works awesome so far...same sound card...for a motherboard, i like the MSI Platinum SLI but for overclockin i believe the DFI board is a bit better with more options and voltages and what not...lookin pretty good so far

umm, but you have an agp video card picked out. if you get pci-e, the agp card will not work with your mobo.
two solutions: get pci-e, and pick out a new video card that is also pci-e
or.. get an agp mobo to go with the 9800

for the latter:

Oh, and do you think the supplied 450W PSU is enough, or should i look into ordering a new one?

Bundled PSU's are like playing russian roulette with a bullet in each chamber*

*Except the Antec ones.

I was gona correct spectre and say that the antecs have nice PSUs on the cases, but then I scrolled down

With that expensive of equitment you dont wana risk the PSU taking it all out.

Also when looking at PSUs the wattage isnt the key factor the amps are. I suggest a trip to the PSU sub forum ;)

Antec cases do not come with good PSUs. They come with DECENT PSUs.

The case you linked is low quality.

The HSF you linked is even worse. Get a Thermalright XP-90[c], XP-120, Arctic Cooling Freezer 64, or Zalman 7700

Why do you want 2GB of RAM? If you REALLY need it, try HP3200 from Mushkin, 2-3-2 at $286 (2x1GB). I really doubt you need it, though. Unless you're a media professional (Photoshop, encoder, etc), get 2x512MB and spend the money on better components (PSU, case, etc)

We never said different we just said they are above playing russian roulete with a fully loaded gun ;)

Well, for starters. It is called PCI-E, NOT PC-E. The first time or 2 you said it I let it go, but then it started getting on me nerves lol. It's a connection called PCI Express, an improvment on PCI slots basicly.

There is no PCI-E 9800, if you have the money which it seems you do, I'd go 6800GT for pci-e, or hold out till G70's come out and either grab one of them, or cash in on old-gen price drops.

I'm sure we're all thinking a similar thought about the case, but it's your rig and everyone thinks that is the way to go the first time around. You will soon learn the way of the well-built case :p

Get one of the coolers listed below, all much better. Along with a separate PSU, assuming you want to keep your parts working.

I'd drop the Gamer edition, unless your in it for the bundled software.

All I can think of now, you have much much to learn. Trust me, more you read... more happy you'll be with it

Opps, i just realised i posted the gamer addition of audagy, that was a mistake, im only planning on getting the normal one, i was tolled that the clocking on ram really donest mean a hoot, when using A64 SD. So i guess thats wrong, as for cases, what do you suggest, just read the reveiws on the case and people seemed to like it alot

as said before, pci-e ;)

also, if you want a low end pci-e card, the 6600gt is the way to go:

and depending on price range and overclocking...
cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123243
heavy oc: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152

as for the psu.. probably not :p

It's just that flashy cases like that are usually not well built. Personally I like CoolerMaster, Lian-Li, Silverstone, off the top of my head. They most won't fit the same look your going for with that case though. Theres thermaltake that are a bit more "out there", not sure how the build quality is but I'm sure it's better than that.
