I threw together a secondary rig with a spare X800Pro I had lying around, then I came across this clearance at NewEgg. $35 for a X1650Pro PCI-E.. not bad. Wondering if it outperforms the X800Pro:

Looking at the bandwidth alone, it looks like the edge goes to the X800Pro, but I'm wondering if there's anything there I'm missing that might redeem the X1650Pro.
 
The x1650 has DX 9.0c (SM 3.0), the x800 is only 9.0b (SM 2.0b).
 
They're about equal - performance varies with both, each will win certain tests. It's not worth upgrading from an X800Pro to an X1650Pro, but if you could get a trade you may as well get the X1650 - it supports HDR (SM3.0) and Avivo (better DVD playback) and has much lower power consumption. Having said that $35 isn't really worth worrying about. Having said THAT you'd likely see no benefit unless you want to use HDR.
 
stick with x800 for gaming and x1650 for tv uses and whatnot. it uses less power than the x800 but the x800 an push a lot more than the x1650
