Ok I've been looking at different components for a photoshop-based build on Newegg/Microcenter or TigerDirect w/cashback.

With Newegg and MC I found:

- Intel i5 750 1.66 $150 at MC
- Open Box: MSI P55-GD65 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard $119
- XFX HD 4890 and Corsair 4GB XMS3 DHX Combo $250 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.300041
- Corsair 550W ATX 13V and WD Caviar Blue $126 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.309438
- Cooler Master Elite Mid-Case $45

Total w/Shipping+Taxes = ~$715

TigerDirect:

- Cooler Master Elite Mid-Case $49
- Corsair 450W $80 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3287208&sku=C13-2500
- ASUS P7P55 PRO Motherboard and Corsair Dominator PC10666 RAM Bundle - 4GB, (2x2GB) DDR3, 1333MHz, Intel P55, Socket LGA1156, Core i5, Dual Path, Dual Channel $280 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5532357&sku=B69-4056
- XFX Radeon HD 4870 Video Card - 512MB GDDR5, PCI Express 2.0 x16, CrossFireX Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, with FREE Stormrise Game $140
- WD Caviar Blue 640 GB $69
- Intel i5 750 1.66 $150 at MC

Total = $769.95 - $80 = ~$689

So my question is do I go the TD route but give up the better video card and CPU for better RAM and Motherboard? Only will be doing moderate amount Call of Duty type games focusing mainly on Photoshop. Thanks.

Edit: darn. Error in title XD

Even with the combo, you're getting ripped off on the Dominator RAM. In addition, you're not gonna notice an iota of difference between that Dominator RAM and the Corsair DHX RAM from the Newegg deal. So basically, I'd recommend the Newegg/MC deal.

My thoughts exactly.

Alright, after dropping the Dominator deal I added lesser RAM and the MSI P55-GD65 LGA just to compare prices accounting for cashback. Well someone picked up the open box mobo so I think I'll just get that from TD and stick with the Newegg/MC deal. Oh, also just wanted to clarify that all these components are compatible with each other, particularly the mobo and video card (haven't seen these together online).

Thanks for the quick responses.

Yeah, it looks like you picked up 1156 mobo and proc and dd3 ram. you should be all set. I would look into some gskill ram. Very good for the price/performance.
