my system crashes like every few weeks giving the message fatal error upon reboot. the error detail says something about a minidump and it gives some weird directory i can't find or don't know how to find like c://doments/kenshin/locals~1.....something minidump or mini.

my cpu temp goes from 28 idle up to mid forties at the highest when playing games. mobo temp usually 38 to 40s
cpu fan is blazing a bit at 4200 but that may be cause i didnt get a chasis fan or power supply fan and im running with an open case..hope thats ok for now.

voltage 12, 5 , 3.3
vcore ranges from 1.58 to 1.64 which seems a bit high but it is stock and i dont know how to change.

ram is pc3200 kingston value at 3-3-3-8-8

any ideas why my system is so unstable at stock settings?

thanks

Brief overview of minidump-

Here's the search results. Looks like some stuff might help you determine what's going on.

Go to Control panel...administrative tools...computer managment...event viewer...system and find the error log. There may be a cryptic code that you can take out to Microsoft Knowledge Base and really narrow down what your getting. Then you'll be able to get assistance with your dilema better.

The problem is often related to sloppy code from third party software vendors like free games or game demo, they reserve system memory even when not in use and anther application grabs the memory allocation simultaniously. I wonder if you use a particular program evey few weeks that might coincide with the error. Some older ATI drivers that come with non "made by ATI" cards can cause this as well

Not sure what your memory timings should be but what you listed seems a bit loose

well i play rainbow six 3 which is really buggy and crashes a lot by itself.
i use ati drivers instead of hercules drivers for my card.
and the ram timings are supposed to be stock.
it runs ok at 2.5-3-3-6-8 but will crash sometimes.
i don't know what timings it should be running at so i just left it on spd.

dont run spd on that board. The I875 does not read the spd setting correctly
set it to manual not auto

then try 2-3-3-6-8 if that works run that way a while then get mroe agressive and try 2-3-2-6-8 .

by the way the amount of ram your running is over kill

Try two 512's in dual channel mode (populate dim slots A1 and B1)

Your mch is working harder than it has to unless your running a web server i can see the need for more than a gig

You could have purchased 1 gig of higher level memory

Another thing occured to me. Make sure your memory speed is not set to auto you want to run synchronus so set it to 400mhz

(I am assumning your not currently overcloking)

can i set the timings that agressive.
i only got kingston value ram which is stock a 3-3-3.
i have 2gb of memory because i do video editing and 3d apps.
