I think it would be fun to have a "username" rush... pick one user and everyone on the forums fold under his name for a week and see how high we can bump him up.

Or create a new user name like "newbie" and see how long it takes all of us to bump him up in the top 100 range :)

Maybe everyone should spread out to cover as many skulls as possible so we'll have uber 1337 team health.

hrm... what about this for a contest idea.

Everyone throws their name in a "hat" (ie. anyone that wishes to join the contest)
1 name is randomly picked.
For 1 week everyone folds with 25% of their CPU horse power under that user name (ie. if you have 4 computers, you setup 1 to fold as that username).

It would have to work on the honor code, but getting a huge bump in PPD for 1 week would be a cool prize.

except for teh fact that I can't physically access but about 5 of my machines right now (the rest are borgs in customers offices) but I would be willing to throw in a Dually Xeon or something :)

I vote for Codegen :D

My first thought is cool, but then I realize if I don't win, I ain't borgin for someone else ;)

Well it would have to say in the rules that if you put your name in the "hat" you must borg for whoever wins. That way it will only cover the people who want to participate

Welcome back CG!

I only have easy access to four of my machines so I guess one machine wouldn't be too bad to give up for a week. I can toss in a dually PII 266 into the mix. Sure, I can set it to someone else's username for a week but it won't finish anything in that time. So I guess I get to keep the points anyway. :p :D

is it set to timeless tinkers? how long does it take it to fold?

It's set to timeless and takes about 2 1/2 weeks to crunch through one 249 point WU. That is per processor so it's two WUs every 2 1/2 weeks or so depending on usage of the system. One processor just finished another WU this morning and the other processor should finish it's tomorrow.

I'm glad I can cache timeless WUs since the system has no internet connection. It's also nice for dumps. Sure, it's not the type of dumps we could do back in the Genome@Home days, but dumps nonetheless. I have a few WU's waiting to be uploaded at the moment but I think I might hold off for a while before I dump them.

Well lets just say that this P3 733 takes almost a full week to fold a 240 point tinker, so a 266 would be umm... forever.

edit: dang, got beat to the punch.

I don't think that I'm going to move around 25% of my horsepower to other people just because it takes too long to move them over. Now, should others see fit to add some power to my username, Damien, I'd be very appreciative. :D

I could maybe move over an instance or two of F@H to someone... Then I'd start going down in the ranks. It's taking everything I got to stay at the 75th position. I need more comps plain and simple.

If I have my way, I should have that spot of yours in the next day or two; keep it warm for me!
:p
