Commodore 64 is reborn!

Can these use internal hard drives from within the c64 emulator? like to load programs or as some people refer to it as "software" ?

If you mean the C64 emulator OS that comes with the "new" C64, who knows? It might be vapourware. Right now you get nothing with the system except Ubuntu I think. The website says that "in a few months" they will send out the C64 OS/emulator. Who knows if they will actually get that done?

Indeed. There are features of the Amiga that have still not been incorporated into mainstream PC's, even though there is a very good reason to do so. Part of the OS in ROM? Amazing idea. Wish modern computers would take note of that and do something similar. And it wasn't something simple like the BIOS either, it was actually a major part of the OS, in something that the computer could not modify. Plus, it made boot up amazingly fast.

So many firsts on the Amiga for a home computer. Pre-emptive multitasking graphical OS? Yep, when PC's were still struggling with Windows 3.1. <sigh>

We don't need OS' in rom anymore with SSDs. It's basically the same thing.

My C64 still works. The only thing missing is the handle for the disk drive. I can still turn it with a pair of long nosed pliers though, that piece broke off like 25 years ago too :D
