Comcast Speed Increases!!!!!!

i think i really need a speed increase atleast in my upload. I get 3000/300 :eek: :eek:
im near the Seattle Washington area, wonder when i get my increase??

I just power-cycled my modem and I went from 2.8MBs/225K to a whopping 4MBs/365K just like that. Very nice indeed....

Just for ooops and giggles, I went to Microsoft's site and did a little download test of my own because I've never had too much faith in regular download test sites because there are too many variables that can affect the outcome.

So thats why I like using something like Microsoft's site that you know they have a HUGE pipeline with consistant speeds no matter what. So I downloaded a 100MB file and it took me just a tad bit under 3 minutes at a rate of 465KB/sec.

Sweet! This reminds me of the good 'ol days when Comcast first started out with their broadband and was using Excite as their portal...

There is a database linked over on DSL Reports and I am not seeing anyone in the Chicago area getting it, nor anyone in Illinois for that matter. I have heard that Comcast won't upgrade there for a little while. The last time it went from 1500/128 to 3000/256 I guess it took Comcast more than a few extra months to get it to Chicago.

Example

That will take you to the status page of your cablemodem. I don’t know if it works on all of them, but I know that it will on at least some 3com, linksys, and RCA modems.

I have 4300/384 right now because I pay the $10 extra, It would be nice to finally have good upload; 256-384 wasn’t really that big of a jump.

Comcast recently finished upgrading the network again except for the new places its always acquiring. Its too bad you weren't in Washington state a year or more ago because before and during the upgrades you could definitely notice the middle of the day things slowing down. Since the upgrades have been completed its not noticeable anymore. I used to take calls all the time of people all pissed off because of the speeds and there wasn't anything I could do except say sorry for the inconvenience. I don't get calls like that anymore except small issues with signal strength to a persons house causing packet loss or dropped modem connections. Its no longer an issue with shared lines for cable in Washington.

u havent been upgraded then,the $10less should get those speeds and the $10 exxtra 6000/768,also not everyones modem ip is that, my modem.router they gave me is 192.168.0.1 and doesnt list speeds its capped at

I hate where I live. There's one high-speed provider, and that's Cebridge (used to be called Classic Net). TERRIBLE isp... It's out probably 85% of the time, has huge lag spikes... Download is ok, upload is terrible...

It is faster than dial up, but it goes out more than it... So blah.

6000 k sounds so drool worthy it's not even funny :p

edit: Dude! This thread inspired me to put in my phone number/address into the DSL reports website, and it seems there's a company called Cyberonic offering ADSL - 6000/768 for $60 a month for the first 6 months, then $70 a month after that. The only thing is, I've never heared of 6000k DSL before? :confused: They seem to have good reviews on dslreports though...

I have Cebridge in Tx and I get 128K up/down.
