The cable and internet behemoth is crashing the mobile party with a new wireless phone service that will cost $65 a month. The caveat, however, is that it will only be available for Xfinity customers. A Comcast exec suggests that the service should take off due to customer loyalty, which makes plenty of sense: the company was rated “America’s Most Hated Company" this year.

Comcast will offer its customers TV, home internet, home phone and wireless service under one umbrella. With companies like AT&T and Verizon offering TV packages over the internet that compete with cable, now Comcast is moving into their area, although that doesn't guarantee they'll have success. According to execs, one of the things that will define success is "customer loyalty," and how this can improve customer retention. On a call (still ongoing) this morning with investors, Comcast noted that there are already 130 million mobile lines within its footprint, and it wants a piece of that market.

I can't wait until we have no choices for data companies, so that Comcast, ATT, Time Warner and so on become our sole monopolistic providers regionally.

Yeah, because we Comcast cable and internet customers were SO underserved for being screwed over and overcharged, we would all be so anxious for additional maltreatment that we'd buy into their mobile phone system.

if local governments would just get out of the way with their regulations, we might actually have some competition develop.

All data carriers are Taco Bell.

I like the DM ref. Sadly, no kidding here as shown a local NJ Taco Bell that was closed, caught on fire then turned into a ATT store.

You know how well this will work out for them? About as good as their home security, and home phone calling bundle....They is real competition there. Even with packaging these divisions are really struggling.

comcast telephone: $25/month + fees
MagicJack: $20/YEAR plus I can take it with me to hotels.

comcast home security: $25/month + fees (for 2 years) (depending on service)
IP smoke detectors, IP Camera + web portal: $600 hardware fee and done. (that's just 2 years of comcast payments)
Brinks home security: $20/month (depending on service)

If companies like comcast successfully kill net neutrality, it becomes a whole new way for them to screw us over.

it's nice to see that comcast is using some of those government subsides to line their pockets further.

aren't you guys supposed to have fiber and cable at everyones house by now?

Hope you're not trying to shift all the blame on the government. If we banned lobbyists and adopted campaign finance reform, politicians wouldn't be able to legally get bribed to help the cable cartels out (or other corporations) and bills like the ISP spy bill that every Republican voted for last week (and handful of Clinton democrats) that Trump signed, would've never passed. Government policies are often hindering lower rates and better service, but only because their corporate overlords demand it. Companies like Comcast and Verizon don't care about "capitalism", or "free market competition". They just want absolute control in their territories, charge high fees, buy out the competition, raise fees more, expand into other territory and repeat. Restore integrity to the government, and make the government work FOR the people instead of against, and then we'll see how government can foster an environment that leads to lower fees and better service, as it once did a few decades ago before Reaganomics ruined everything. Starting with breaking up the monopolies and reigning in wall street!
