hey guys, I've come across an odd problem and I need some help.
I've put together a build for a coworker and just installed Win7 home prem 64
All windows updates are done.

The problem:
Half the time when the computer is started from a cold boot, the windows loading screen appears, acts normal, then the display goes black.
The LCD blinks "no signal". If I hit the reset button, it resets, then boots normal (but reports windows did not load properly last time).
Other times, it starts fine. I played games on the comp for about 8 hours over the weekend and never had a problem during gameplay.
When I F8 to boot using low-resolution mode, it works fine.

Could this be a Catalyst driver problem?

The system specs
Corsair Spec-03 case
Corsair TX 750w psu
Intel i3-2100 w/stock hsf
Biostar TZ77XE3 motherboard LGA1155
2x4gb Corsair XMS DDR3 1600
Seagate 240gb Pro ssd
XFX Radeon 280x DD (catalyst 14.4)
Seagate 3TB hdd
LCD temporarily for setup is a Dell 24" 1920x1200.

I know the psu, cpu, mobo & ram are not defective because I used them for almost a year.
I'm going to try uninstalling the catalyst 14.4 then installing catalyst 13.9

I uninstalled catalyst 14.4, the drivers prompted for a restart.

Upon restart, the same problem occurred. Now it constantly loses display signal and won't load the desktop (but the windows loading screen shows up and scrolls the status bar). So now I'm truely stumped. I thought this was a driver problem. The LCD is connected via dvi to the Radeon 280x.

Safe mode works 100%.

Boot into safe mode and do a system restore?

Also, try booting without that video card installed and just the onboard.

ok, I think I've figured it out.
This problem only occurred when I had the DVI cable plugged into the bottom DVI port.

I moved the connector to the top dvi on the xfx 280x and it works every time now. I've tried it about a dozen times and it hasn't happened any more.

Has anybody else here experienced the same issue?
