COD2 Worth the bother?

I got CoD 2 free with my new video card. Should I even bother installing it? I felt like the first one was a waste of money. It was supposed to be squad based and all that, but it quickly turned into, “Barns, destroy the entire German Panzer division while we cower in this bunker here!” By the end of a level you often took over a hundred hits. It was Quake with WW2 guns.

I played the CoD 2 demo and it felt worse. Although there are plenty of squad mates, the damage system is stupid. You can just stand out there being pelted with MG 42 rounds and 8mm rifle rounds and after a while a messages comes up that tells you need to get to cover. Duck behind a box for a few seconds and you’re as good as new. I’m not sure I want to play another “Unreal Tournament 1944”. Does it get better as you get into the game?
 
If you got it free and have the space, why not?
Me personally though? I wouldn't put a single penny towards that "me too" game, so no... Opinions on this forum greatly differ, but I am no fan of it. But I'm bored of that whole genre.
 
personally I think the single player is very repetitive. The multiplayer is fun though, if you like that type of game.
 
I played it and liked it. The online multiplayer is fun as well.
Your decision though...
 
You got it free...do you really have to ask if you should install it? The time it took you to make this post you could have installed the game and get a close up hands on impression of it which almost every review site has give an above average score.:confused:
 
I say get a video camera, set the game on fire, nice big one too, film it, encode it, and put it on the internet with a caption explaning how games of this craptastic level should be dealt with this kind of tactic and how game companies are just pushing out shit just to make money over the art of making a wonderful game.

Not that it will do anything to help the matter.. but hey at least you will feel better and it would make me and others smile and have a good day.

I'd say it's worth it to install in your case because the graphics are stunning. I'm playing through it right now.
 
I thought it was a great game, so much better than the last one and really immersive. I didn't find it that repetative like some others, I thought they did some interesting things to break it up (artillery calling, tank driving, different situations, etc.)

I'd say at least try it out and see if you like it yourself.

Graphics being stunning shouldn't be the reason to play a game, but I agree... if it's not new and in a box, it's useless to sell, and if you've got the free space, install and play. If you get bored, shelve it or sell it to a close friend. Nothing much else you can do.
 
I think it's worth it. I had a blast playing it.

It did what the call of duty games have always strived to do...make a game that
plays with a cinematic quality.

For that type of experience, you can't beat the CoD franchise (not talking about
the console versions since I haven't played any of them)
 
My friends and I love playing it...too bad you dont.
Seem's like you've already made your mind up so sell/give the copy to somebody else that wants it.

This is exactly why I dont want to play it. I dont want to play a 'movie.' Games are not movies... I am sick and tired of game developers leading the players of their games in a rigid fashion, having to do it the exact way they want you to, just so you can be in the exact spot at the right time to watch some stupid scene of like bombers bombing a building at the some key moment... just so it looks cool and you can be amazed at how you have no control in the game that it is just a Rail game.
 
I thought the game sucked. Its just as shallow as Quake 4 and doesn't even come close in terms of graphics. This is how the game goes...

Load out
Shoot 2-3 nazis
End up regrouping w/ squad
All of you nazi hunting

-Now this would be cool, except EVERY level is like this, and the guns are weak as hell.Level design is a friggin' JOKE....I have no idea why everyone loves this game. I've been FORCING myself to finish the game. IMO, Quake 4 had one of the best SP i've played.
