first up, please do the hard thing and read the post before replying. Most questions/suggestions were answered/tried in the original post.

Second, I've tried several fora's without succes, so I just decided to try the [H], I'll list them FYI. Most of the post is just a C/P form these fora

--Short Story--
I'm trying to get Open NAT on CoD:MW2, but for some reason I can't get it to open on Windows XP, but it works fine wherever I try it on a Windows 7 PC. Having used several old and clean installs of both windows XP and Win7 on different systems, I just don't know anymore what could cause win XP to fail and 7 to open.

--Longer story--
I've been trying to open my NAT on my gaming PC for some time now, but never succeeding. After a long struggle with fort forwarding, uPnP and DMZing I tried to run it on my laptop.
I fixed the basic port forward and look, it works. The only difference I could see was that my laptop was running windows 7, compared to the XP that's running on my desktop.

At first I tought this could not be the problem. Since then, I've tried it on severeal computers and I always come to the same result: Open NAT is only possible on Windows 7, and it won't work on XP.

I've tried 2 computers with XP, I've tried clean installs of XP, I used all the basic settings that work on 7, but it just won't on XP. I took one of those XP PC's, installed a Win7 on it, and without any effort, it opened my NAT.

General settings:
- uPnP is off in the router (doesn't work either way)
- No DMZ, didn't work for XP anyway.
- portforwarding in my router works (confirmed by portforward checker, and the fact that it works on Win7)
- I did have to add my external IP to the IP list of my connection in Win7, but in XP it won't work.
- all firewalls are off, I've tried with and without Avast AV, win 7 is fine with avast anyway.

I'm at a loss here, I'm sure there are people out there that have open NAT on windows XP, or this should have been a massivly known item (I don't find much relevant on google)

What gives?

--Preemptive answers--
Yes the game works, I just want to get open NAT on XP, or understand why it won't work.
Yes, routing has been done, tested and confirmed working on Windows 7
Yes, I've configured Windows XP the same as the Windows 7 (there might be background default settings I might have missed)
Yes, I'm no native english speaker/writer, my apologies for any mistakes. ;)

Not sure exactly what the goal is here...

The router you're behind should deal with NAT, you need to make sure that's enabled, then it's just a case of adding the application you want to use to any local firewalls on your PC such as windows firewall. Either find out what ports it requires and allow the right incoming/outgoing ports, or simply add the application to the firewalls allowed list.

The goal is to figure out why all my XP PC's show strict NAT, while every Windows 7 PC shows open NAT ingame.
For those not knowing CoD:MW2: This is a message you get ingame, depending on whether IW.net finds an open route to your game.

So the router manages the NAT fine. I know what ports to forward and they have been tested with the portforward port tester. All firewalls are off, and I've tested both with and without AV. It is working on windows 7 afterall. But I can't get any Windows XP PC to show open NAT, even though I configured them exactly the same as the windows 7 PC.

Well if the router is the same and is working correctly then it has to be the firewall on the computer that doesn't work. how are you disabling the firewall? It might be worth going in to the services manager and disabling the firewall service (windows firewall) and see if it stil happens.

Both machines are behind the same router right? When you switch from one to the other to test do you alter the port forwarding rules as well, since you can only port forward 1 port to 1 IP address (not convinced you need this anyway since most people dont know how to port forward I would expect MW2 to deal with it internally)

Did you say the non working machine is a laptop in which case it has 2 NICS, a wired and wireless, are you getting the machines IP address right for port forwarding rules as it may have 2 different ones?

portforwarding has been tested each time on each machine. This always succeeds, on both Win7 and XP.
I just change the IP of all the machines to the IP I did the forwarding to.

The laptop is actually a Win7 machine that works with open NAT.
