CoD 4 SP unrealistic

The only possible way that guy could have stood behind that car and shot everyone to death is by using the cluster nade, slow motion, and infinite ammo cheats. Even then, 20 grenades are going to simultaneously fall at your feet eventually.

Don't go by the movie...the movie is inaccurate. Go by Bowden's book. Shugart and Gordon probably killed 150+ Somalis before they were overtaken...beaten, and their dead bodies dragged through the streets. (side note, they used M21 sniper rifles as opposed to the standard issue 24s as the M21 had a 7.62 round, and some serious stopping power against people so high they couldn't feel pain. Other rangers/deltas didn't understand why they used old rifles until they got into combat. I imagine many Iraq vets can attest to the M14 being superior to the M16/M4 simply because of stopping power. Who cares if its light and plastic if it cannot kill?)

Know what else the movie got wrong? The other crew of the chopper was alive after the crash. The copilot had a bad back, his back was broken. The chopper landed on its struts, and the blackhawk did just as Sikorsky designed it to do - absorb multiple Gs of acceleration (deceleration) - the Somalis killed all of the crew, save Durant. Gotta love Hollywood and politics, eh?

But yes, that level in COD4 pissed me off. AMAZING reproduction of Pripyat - go look at the pictures. I enjoyed being able to take a little time around the pool and all, it was an amazing job they did making that...but the end challenge sucked. Took me a good 10 tries, involving different claymore placings and C4 usage.

exactly

Ok either you played on very easy mode, or you were on drugs and/or had an alcoholic blackout during that part of the game.

Easily goes down in video gaming history as one of the most frusterating gaming moments EVER.

And to the guy who called it easy on veteran, post a youtube video, I DARE YOU. :p

Nope, did it in one try on normal.

the part AFTER, however, is kicking my ass. Up to 49 tries right now (over 30 tries just to get the 4 tanks... the last two knew right where I was and nuked me the second I stepped out. :(

Airstrikes are stupid, just give me a decent gun, or let me call in choppers which don't suck.

Yea, I did it in one try on normal too... After 20 tries on hardened, the change in difficulty is really drastic from normal to hardened.

I stopped counting the number of times it took me to do the final levels on 'Veteran'

I may play the game again on easy just to enjoy the storyline.

Any elite unit armed to the teeth with the latest weaponry technology can kill hundreds and hundreds of scrub militias armed with just an AK-47 with only 5 minutes of weapons training. I mean its not even really fair if you think about it. It's also like when a sniper is on top of a hill and he's shootin at scrubs 300 yards away armed with only machine guns. That sniper will kill them all. Bottom line if you have the element of surprise, well armed and well trained you can kill a lot of scrubs.

And this goes for in-game too. A veteran player who knows the map and is good at a game will OWN a bunch of noobs.

Actually the M24 like the M21 fires a 7.62 round (what else would it fire????????).... The only reason they fancy the M21 is because it is reliable and semi-auto. Oh and to the OP, I don't think "owned" is the right word to use for these two legends of war. They were part of the best of the best and they were the best of the best... They died in order to save another.

But yes COD4 is very unrealistic and sniper rifles in MP are useless head shots don't register

OH and its not about how well armed you are, its about how good of a soldier you are, hence why SF units can work without support or resupply for months

Why play COD4 when theirs other realistic games out there GHOST RECON ADVANCED WARFIGHTER..

But anyways, I happen to like the arcade style of COD4. Its a thrilling masterpiece.

Yes, one is a bolt gun firmly bedded in a solid stock, the other is a jazzed up M14.

Same round fired.

are you guys serious? I held out the entire wave without claymores the first time because I didnt even hear the guy mention them and beat it on the first try. There's a dragonov right next to the car on the left of your position (if you were on the ferris wheel) that you can use to finish off the rest of the enemies after your initial rifle runs out of ammo.

All you really have to do is be patient with shooting. Wait for 2-3 enemies to emerge and line up so you can take all of them down with one well placed shot. All I did was point and click. Hell, I didnt even use shift to steady my aim, i just compensated for it as I shot. I believe after I finished during the first attempt, I still had rifle ammo left and never even bothered picking up any enemy guns.

Go give it a shot on Veteran.

Well I just finished that SP level where you''re a sniper and you've got another lame sniper with you. That's the one next to the ferris wheel. In the end you gotta carry your lame buddy to the chopper - if you live that is.

Anyhow you gotta fight off waves after waves of enemies - i mean dozens (may be 50-70 enemies and dogs).

How realistic is that?

Take for example what happened those 2 elite Delta members (Gordan & Shugart) in Somalia - they got owned by probably less than what I was facing.

I know it's game but it should strive to be somewhat realistic.

Ok </RANT>

Nuff said.

Video Games = Not real

Nuff said

Took me like 7 tries on hardened. I just went and set the claymores in a line behind the fence there, set C4 on cars and on ferris wheel just in case, and sat back behind the little hill. The waves came, people blew up, and I picked a few off. A few guys came around, picked them off and got an AK-47 and a G3 which is automatic in SP for some reason. Then just kinda defend yourself and stay alive. When the enemy reinforcements in the helicopters came, I just let them come down and press my C4 blowing the cars up. Then I just held out for a while behind the bumpercars. They don't really see you there and they really only have 2 ways of getting behind there so you are pretty much safe. When the allied copter comes, run to MacMillan and bring him in the copter. Easy as pie once you get it figured out.

But I was stressed as hell trying it out and failing the first few times to those STUPID DOGS!!!!

Ha!

+1 to that.

I can't do it, its kicking my ass. I got up to that point on Veteran fairly easily.... and now, I am stuck there. It's a bitch, and the lack of checkpoints makes it even worse. I get so bloody pissed and just can't do it. I've probably died 20+ times... makes me crazy.

It's not that the fact that it's unrealistic that sucks, it's just that that part is the quintessence of lame, cheesy videogame design of endless spawning enemies.

They're boring, because real life is boring.

That's why we play video games.

Wouldn't say that's true.

If I threw you in Iraq in the middle of a firefight right now, would you be bored?

If I threw you on Omaha beach on June 6th, 1944, would you be bored?

You would in fact be the complete opposite of bored, 110% content and more concentrated and aware than you've ever been, nerves on fire, fighting for your life.

We play video games because they don't have the consequences that real life does. Realistic games and simulators can be very fun as well because they allow us to experience things that we would otherwise never experience in real life. They can also be more rewarding than arcade games because you are actually using real life tactics and teamwork to get a job done. You see results based on smart decisions. And that makes us happy. :)

Going a little deeper into the subject, why do people play paintball, or better yet, why do people play airsoft? It's a simulation based on reality, so by your logic it is boring, right? Again, quite the opposite. It's fun because we are experiencing a war like atmosphere without the fear of dying or harming others. It's chaotic, and we go through it knowing that we will be crashing on our living room sofas right after its over. :D

why do people play airsoft?

Because they're mongoloids that take things too seriously.

Honestly, before anyone gets indignant: have you ever seen any of these morons on their websites, kitted out in MY NAVY SEAL ACUPAT WEBBING WITH REPLICA NIGHTTHUNDER INFRA-RED HEADMOUNT AND HI-CAP FN FAL?

It's a game. Get fucked, you failure.*

*in reference to the Pro-Serious Airsoft virgins, not this jaguax fella.

completely agree. although i think cod4 is a good game is still lacks in many aspects. the never ending crowd of spawning enemies is just kind of annoying if you don't rush points they will just continue to pour out forever in an endless cycle. i found myself just throwing flash bangs and rushing a point then camping behind a wall and the game will basically play itself, no strategy necessary in certain areas.

Use the bumper car strategy. Its the only way I could pass that part with out resorting to the exploit-ish way of going to the buildings and hiding there. Hiding behind the bumper car area seems to throw off the pathing of the A.I. as well. They all run to the exact same spot and then break for the corner of the bumper cars, giving you ample time to pick them off.

Some will just try to run through the bumper car area, making themselves easy pickin's in the process. I've never seen any of them try to flank to the right and go behind, but you can put a claymore over there and take care of that if they did.

Wait til' you get to Heat.

What kind of a fucking twerp describes two men that gave their lives to save a comrade as getting "owned?"

You are a dumbshit, kid. As penalty, you're not allowed to play videogames for an entire week. Try the real world.

Just thought I'd chime in and be an ass along with most everyone else. But mines just off topic and just to say I really dislike elitist like this guy (tim james). Yes they were brave, but they did end up getting destroyed by the enemy. Owned is a perfectly acceptable term to use despite this guy thinking he is better than you just because he is older and can call you kid.

"Owned" is never even a nearly acceptable term to use unless you're a mentally defective, twelve year-old ELiTE counterstrike player, and even if you do meet the criteria, using it will earn any self-respecting human being in your vicinity the right to stamp on your face.

Yeah, this has a lot less to do with anyones age and a whole lot more to do with being a disrespectful ass towards people perfoming an act of the highest attainable valor.

Casually talking shit about such people makes you an ass.

I wasn't talking about the event to which he was referring so much as the term itself.

AMAZING reproduction of Pripyat - go look at the pictures.

+1

After playing that level I went to look at pictures of Pripyat and was like "holy shit" they did an awesome job with that level. Then again there's not much you can screw up when it comes to designing a place that's pretty much abandonded.

Except for the fact that it's a complete bastard to get permission to go in there for any decent length of time.
