I'm going to buy a call of duty game, and am wondering which one to get. I can get WaW for 50, or my friend can hook me up with CoD 4 for $30. is the extra $20 worth it? I should i just stick with cod 4?

Seems like everyone I know who played COD 4 is on 5 now and loving it..

Go with WAW. It's a ton of fun in my opinion. Logged in a ton of hours this week playing it and I dont seem to be slowing down.

Ton's of fun!

Plus the numbers on 4 will slowly be going down as everyone migrates.

Then you have the zombie mode!! Even on its own its worth it :D

WAW is a huge let down single player. But Multi is basically same COD4 Goodness with a WWII resurfacing, so on that merit alone, go for WAW.

I'm enjoying it so far, just killed Amsted (or whatever his name is). I really just couldn't get into 4's story mode, think I prefer the WW2 setting....it is just more brutal, epic if you will :D

Played 4 thoroughly, and very much enjoyed it. Now I have 5/WaW, and I very much enjoy it as well. It's not the greatest game in the history of games, it's not groundbreaking, it's not original, and it's not a "must have", but it IS a lot of fun. I like the fact that they took some of the best points from 4 and morphed them into the WWII theme (i.e. the Chopper is now a pack of German Shepherds, claymores are now Bouncing Bettys, etc.). Haters are gonna scream about all kinds of faults with it and that it's just a rehash of 4 with WWII skins (which is fairly true), but just take it for what it is and have a good time killing people.

Really? I thought the solo/coop campaign was superb (to each his own, right?). The presentation was off the chart and it had really good missions. I like the competitive multiplayer in COD4 more just because the maps were much better (or I'm just used to them).

In the end, I'd say pick up cod4 since it's at least as good experience as w@w, and have the option of picking it up for only $30.

A whole 7%!! May aswell close the thread now folks!

Personally I'd say a wider spectrum of user views are far better than any single review, the writer of which may have totally different tastes etc to yourself.

But then I'm wierd like that :D

cod waw 87% is based on 27 different review sites. cod4 94% is based on 78 review sites. This is a wide spectrum of views with reviewers having widely varying tastes. The consensus opinion is that cod4 is better. 7% is a big difference for that large a number of reviews.

FYI, gamerankings looks at average reviews across a wide variety of game review websites. It is very useful for getting an objective opinion of how games compare to each other. Much more useful than listening to one person's review which may be biased, inaccurate, incomplete, etc. Metacritic is another resource that does the same thing and also shows consensus reviews for movies and dvd's.

depends what you're into.... personally i like cod4 better as i like modern warfare more than ww2 stuff... but either way theyre both good.

Hmm. Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm going to borrow CoD 4 from my friend for a while, then get WaW when I have some free time (and money) :)

I played the cod5 beta and didn't like it. I like the weapons in cod4 better. Can't stand ugly ww2 guns.

I've got both.... Played COD4 for the last year and now playing COD WaW since the launch and I prefer COD4. WaW is still very fun, however, I guess I'm really, REALLY tired of the WW2 themes.

If I had to keep just one of these, I'd keep COD4.

User views are still better than reviews IMO

Last years review of PES'08 for example scored very highly by IGN....who also happened to have advertising in the game....the same game that was universally hammered as being utter dross.

I'll trust my fellow gamers opinions first thank you very much :D

+1 i trust peoples opinions rather then profesional reviewers

i prefer the feel of 4 but 5 has more people online so i have been playing 5 and zombie mode is great

I've never played the zombie mode: I only played the multiplayer beta. Is the zombie mode really good?
