I gotta go with neither. I've been playing SupCom for a couple days, trying to get into it, but I'm just not impressed at all. Build a crapload of units, bumrush the enemy base, repeat...yay.

Finn's Revenge was by far my least favorite map in the beta, for exactly the reasons you stated; name it's very much a rush map, just two choke points, hold the forward mass points and win. I'm rather disappointed they didn't release Isle or another of the 20k x 20k or bigger maps to show off the scale of the game.

Is Rise and Fall worth missing out on getting Supcom for a few days? Deal is [H]OT but I want Sup Com NOW NOW NOW.

welll... no clue about rise and fall never heard of it before i purchased it w/ supcom :). and since i don't have a car waiting is about the only option i had lol. plus the fact that it is two games for less than the price of 1 at a B&M store... I ain't complainin'

edit: according to gamespy, ign and gamespot "rise and fall" is rather mediocre...

The Demo's AI is really, really easy, even on hard. Some of the beta's AI, especially early on, was crazy hard. Hard AI in the demo isn't even as hard as Easy back in 3.3. I wish they'd fix that. You really aren't seeing any of SupCom from the demo. The full version will be so much better with actual opponents.

There was a patch/crack to upgrade the AI in the beta...I haven't tried to see if it works with the demo yet.

Hrrm SC with queueing and awesome zoom and BIG maps that make for interesting gameplay or

CNC3 running on the I CBF hiring programmers to make something that works so here is SAGE with bugger all units tiny maps no zoom no Artillery made by EA who won't give a shit about the buggy netcode

<.<

such a hard choice

Supcom for sure!:)

The beta was a lot of fun. After being able to zoom in and out in SC I would think I'd have a difficult time adjusting to the view in standard RTS games.

I saw a video demo of CnC3 which looked cool, although I don't think it's quite on the same level as supcom. CnC3 just didn't seem to have any novelty to it.

At this point I would have to say Supcom, mostly because of the resource management, that's the major beef I've had with C&C games. Having to keep an eye out for multiple dumbass harvesters that will drive right through an enemy base

The only thing I'm worried about is them destroying the story line. In a perfect world, Westwood would still be around, Red Alert 3 would've been released instead of this Generals bullshit, and they probably would've released the real C&C3 by now as well... But this apparently is EA's world, and we have to live in it... :I

Big QFT here.
Although, I have to say that even though Generals never ties into the C&C story, I have really enjoyed it and especially Zero Hour. I'm actually pretty surprised to see that people are even interested in picking up C&C 3. I was always pretty much a loner when it came to the C&C series (got each one). Most of my friends were heavily into Diablo 2 and such at the time and nobody wanted to play C&C or RA or anything with me :( But then there was always multiplayer over my old dial-up connection. Good times.

I'll be getting both, mostly out of curiosity for SupCom, and loyalty to C&C :)

I have a feeling that EA will screw up C&C3, but I know I'll still be playing it rabidly anyways. RA2 was the game that got me into PC gaming, and I just have a thing for C&C games :D. I'm definitely going to give SupCom a shot though, it does look like a very nice game.

Same prob here, I just recently met a person in my area that like the old C&C games. So it's been fun having someone to 1 vs. 1 in Tiberian Sun, I also 1 vs. 1 him in Dune 2000 :p

Supreme Commander is an awesome, revolutionary game in the RTS genre. Unfortunately, I doubt that C&C3 will come anywhere near it for one sole reason: EA. Generals was a true piece of shit game and I'm sure the Westwood guys were shaking their heads at that one.

I sure would love to be proven wrong about C&C3 though.

got SupCom and will more than likely pass on C&C3. since the first red alert C&C3 has sucked imo... and especially after thrid party content starts rolling out for SupCom there is no way C&C3 can hold a candle to it as it will just continually improve. not to mention ea.

After playing the beta and the demo - Spam-Commander is getting a back seat to command and conquer 3 from me.

If it did not take a million years to build the cool stuff in Supreme Commander I would get both. But seriously - who wants to play a game where most matches end with who has a better low tech unit spam count? I want the cool stuff, and I do not want to play 45 minutes into the game just to get it!!!

If you did not like Red Alert 2 then you need your head checked.

That is kind of hard to happen when they only go to tibirium or ore deposits. I have NEVER had that happen to me.

I too was a little worried about the fact EA had a hand in C&C3.. but after watching the video and listening to the developer podcasts, as well and the community summit playtest... the game looks to be bringing command and conquer back to its full glory.

Honestly why can't it be both? I'm loving Supreme COmmander now, and I'm pretty sure I'll really like C&C3 when it comes out too.

SupComm gets it from me due to its ability to have a nice long life thanks to its open modability and I think serious competitive RTS players will like SupComm more.

Also, its brought a number of great, innovative things to a VERY stale genre, whereas CnC3 looks like more of the same with better graphics.

At least with SupComm we have the hope of actually getting patches that improve the game. Not to mention that GPG actually listens to their userbase and fixes problems pretty fast, and on top of that MODDING!!!! SComm is prolly gonna have shit tons of mods for it since it is pretty open source (or w/e the technical term is). Don't get me wrong i pretty much started my RTSing on Red Alert 2 etc. etc. but its EA and they have to destroy things to make money fast.....:(

I voted with my wallet already: a copy of SupCom, preordered the very first day it was possible to do so, is sitting on my desk. Having said that, I'll give EA until the C&C 3 demo to impress me...

cnc3 because supreme commader requires a $2,000 system to run properly.

do you really think an EA game will have good performance?? lol, im not hating on your opinion or anything but EA hasn't exactly had a good record in optimization or anything of that sort

I'm buying both. I am a fan of both the Command and Conquer series and Total Annihilation.
