Long story short cousin is buying me this for Christmas and I was wondering what are some peoples experience with this cooler? I only have a Stock HSF at the moment, so what temps should I be looking at with this thing? I read that the 212+ was a beast so can I expect this to do the same?

NZXT classic M59 2(3 i think) pulling fresh air in, 3 top exhaust.

Funny that you ask. I just installed one yesterday. Seems OK, but the instructions are very skimpy and incomplete and it's a PITA to properly position the bracket that holds the HSF in place.
 
It seems to work very well, especially for its price .

I have it on a 3570k and it idles around 27-35c depending on core , running games at stock clock it gets around 45-47c and running prime95 57-58c . if that gives you any idea ,
 
It isn't one of the absolute top end coolers, but the price/performance ratio is excellent. This is my go-to cooler for people whom I build computers and I would recommend it to anyone.

The installation is a bit finicky, but I've always had good mounts with it. Use a little extra thermal paste because the baseplate has grooves in it where the heatpipes are mounted, and you'll get a little better surface contact.
 
I had the 212+ and it was a great heatsink for the price. I think you will be happy with the Evo. +1 to the person above who talked about the mounting. There is an adjustable bracket that bolts the heatsink to the MoBo, and it changes settings with very little pressure. You have to hold onto the heatsink while you position that bracket and begin tightening the screws. Just make sure you put the motherboard in horizontal position while doing that stage of the assembly and it will much easier.

its a very good cooler best bang for buck you can get... did i also mention it can keep up with a coolermaster h50/60 ;)
 
Sweet. Well it is not me buying it it is my cousin. Also I am getting some artic silver Tp with it to. I think anything would be better than SHSF anyways.
 
IDK what Arctic Silver Tp or SHSF are but if you want high performance paste get Arctic MX-2. The cost is very similar to AS5 but the performance is better. It also doesn't conduct electricity amd won't hurt your parts if it gets on them.

Tp - thermal paste
SHSF - Stock HeatSink and Fan
 
i have 2 hyper 212+ coolers

the installation is a bit fiddly as mentioned but not so bad.... i'm please with the performance of these coolers... I am not a big fan (pun?) of the included stock fan that comes with the hyper212+ (the sounds on PWM speed change drove me kinda nuts) but i think the evo has a different fan so hopefully it is better.


I have Gelid Silent 12 PWM fans on my 212+ coolers which work well for me, and are very quiet.
