clipping problems with foobar equalizer

I have the M-Audio Revo 7.1 sound card and the Klipsch 4.1 Promedia computer speakers. I have the latest version of foobar (0.77b) running. However, when I try to play all four channels using stereo x 2 in DSP manager along with the equalizer, I hear clipping. I even hear clipping sounds when it doesn't say "clipping detected" in the console. When I take off "convert stereo to 4 channels", I don't hear anymore clipping. And I don't get any clipping noises without the equalizer either. I have moving "advanced clipping limiter", "equalizer", and "convert stereo to 4 channels" in different orders under active DSPs. Does anybody know what I can do to be able to listen to all 4 channels with equalization under foobar? I think the music sounds so much better when equalized, and under foobar would be the only way I can do that, since the M-Audio Revo doesn't offer equalization or trebble options. Thanks

three solutions, the first is the best

1)don't use an equalizer and listen to music in stereo

2)try "simple surround" with "equalizer"

3)do it with your revo (if you can)

I know you guys are going to hate me for bumping this up, but I am having the same issue except with 0.9.6.9 and an X-Fi Xtreme Music as well as my onboard. The clipping only occurs with the EQ on it seems.

Does anyone have the fix for this? I really want to use the EQ!

All the XFI stuff is turned off. Whenever the foobar EQ is engaged it clips. It's not like it is at crazy settings, it is set to a V curve the highest point being +5 MAYBE. So I dunno what is up with this.

Just a little update I spose... with the EQ turned off it pops less, however it is still there. It is annoying as sin, as it happens on two seperate sound cards! I really want to use Foobar, however it is the only app that is doing this.

You're amplifying the "ends" of the curve and introducing distortion. Try doing the opposite, that is, leave the ends at 0 and move everything else to negative/down.

In the digital realm, any time you push a signal past 0dbu, hard digital clipping results. The solution? Don't push any band on your EQ beyond 0dbu. Slide down the gain for the bands you want to take out (likely the midrange), and make up for the loss of signal with more (analog) volume.

If your EQ has a "preamp" feature, slide it down by the same (or more) quantity of decibels that you boosted the bass and treble bands.

As others have said, adjust the EQ by lowering what you don't want to below 0. None of the sliders should ever be above 0.

Well considering turning the EQ right off still does the same thing, I don't think it is because of that. However I did do what you said, and it had no effect.
