Chrome Is Catching Firefox

Definitely my browser of choice currently.

I am very disloyal though - I jump ship to whatever is best without a moments of hesitation :D

I'm the opposite, been with Firefox forever, but i didn't know what I was missing until I tried Chrome at a friend's. Blazing fast with almost all of the same add ons I had for FF. First Mozilla and now AMD, 2011 is definitely not shaping up to be the year of the underdog, but thats the price of progress I guess.

As soon as Chrome gets a pinable Bookmarks sidebar, I'll switch. Not until then. Google's refusal to add a sidebar is just pure stubbornness.

Ah damn. I was totally gonna install it and give it a try until I read that.

I use both honestly.

Chrome for general web browsing/forums and Firefox for media consumption.

What amused me however was the number of people still using Opera..LoL.:D

I'm betting the high rate of Android adoption is helping to drive Chrome growth too. Everyone who owns an Android phone starts a Google account, and there's some pretty good synergy between Google accounts, Chrome, and Android.

That, and Chrome is fast, light, and very extendable. And sidebars are for lawyers. :)

Thats like not upgrading your tuner to a Bugatti because the radio doesn't have preset station buttons. Ctrl+Shift+B = instant bookmark bar, a minor inconvenience. Chrome is a much more polished browser IMO. I'm stubborn like a mule and had to force myslef to give it an honest chance for a week and 2 days into, I was so impressed I uninstalled FF and I haven't looked back since.

If chrome worked correctly with my ticketing system and web based email system I would switch in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it does not.

You can pin bookmarks to a horizontal bar under the address bar...

Chrome for general web browsing/forums and Firefox for media consumption.
Now I'm 100% for non-work related browsing, but when I Chrome first came out I only used it for media consumption while I waited for extensions to catch up to Firefox (mouse gestures, adblock, etc..), the opposite of you.

Chrome was the first browser that allowed me to in real time pull a tab with a video (or audio) already streaming and playing out of the tab bar, drag it over to another monitor and full screen it, and it never skips a beat and just keeps playing.

Weird, I would never use Chrome.
My trust of google ends there. I also don't feel like sponsoring them that much.

I'm not a fan of it's layout (nor IE), personally, so I stuck with firefox.

I've used it in the past, but found no compelling reason to switch. I'm also not a fan of putting all of my eggs in one basket. I use google search and realise they need to make money (selling ad's and usage data), but that's where it ends. I can appreciate that they're giving users more options, but no thanks :)

Been using Chrome since day one, no looking back. Great browser.

Chrome for XP machines (like here at work). :(

But I like IE9 a lot on 7.

Never much cared for Firefox. I don't know why.

i don't really like that chrome gets piggybacked on a ton of downloads now and i have to pay attention not to install it.

I probably won't ever use it because I don't appreciate that kinda crap, same reason I won't ever use norton or McAfee.

I've tried to switch to Chrome for years, but I hate how difficult they make accessing my bookmarks. Plug-ins help, but they don't fix the issue.
Then there's the issue of the browser not liking my zoom settings and the required extra plug-in to get it to clear my cache upon close.
I don't give a damn how fast/small it is when the basic things I want are such a pain to do.

I swear I read somewhere that Chrome already had pulled ahead of Firefox...

That's my main gripe with Chrome, since they have a vested interest in ad revenue, I've realized that Adblocker and similar extensions don't quite work as well like they did in Firefox.

I use both, but I cannot understand why Chrome wont allow us the option between saving the file and opening the file. Sometimes I just want to run the file without having to go and delete 100 files out of my download folder. Probably if/when they add this, Chrome will be my main browser. Until then, I'm split.

I'm using chrome a lot more.

Mainly because firefox is laggy as shit most of the time.

Thought I was the only one having the problem.. It was getting so bad I did a fresh install of windows, and FF still was freezing.

Now its Chrome or nothing..

the underdog needs a top dog to challenge.

Chrome's success sets a higher standard for challengers, and that's a good thing.

I use Chrome, told my friends to switch to Chrome, went over my parents house and switched them to Chrome also.
It's easier for them to use, and I don't have to troubleshoot over the phone.

Tried to use chrome at work but it sucked as far as plugins and the like. I'll give it a try in the future, but since 1.0~2 Firefox has been my main browser.

Until they get a functional alternative to Adblock+ and Noscript, I will never switch to Chrome. The last time I tried it (few months ago) the alternatives were laughably useless.

I have used them all and I have found no reason to abandon firefox. I don't like the lack of options in Chrome and to me the nightly beta builds of firefox x64 load just as fast and all my extensions work.

I use both Chrome and Firefox. Chrome at work due to my work machine being a piece of shit and Firefox gets slow and laggy on XP with what I do. Chrome doesn't get slow.

Firefox I use at home because Firefox doesn't get slow on Windows 7 and I miss my add-ons when using Chrome.

It also doesn't help Firefox that nVidia TDR victims tend to migrate to Chrome, since for whatever reason, FF regularly tickles the nVidia driver bug.

I'd just rather not support google so Firefox is good and comfortable for me. Also I don't like the unified search bar.

I switched from FF awhile ago...haven't looked back. Chrome is pretty great.

-No Dedicated search bar
-Nothing but another way to deliver Ads to the users
-No way to move the Tab bar back below the URL bar
-Offers no customizations even close to Firefox's standard customizability or what you can modify through about:config or userchrome.CSS

All fo those reasons and more are why I'll never use Chrome, and it saddens that a distributed Ad platform has gotten so many users. :(

I use firefox because I watch a bunch of Progaming streams. Firefox blocks or allows me to pick and choose when to see in video ads. Chrome does not. I will allow ads to support the streamers I enjoy so long as they don't pop up in the middle of the action. There is nothing more irritating than to have a 30 second ad start right in the middle of something that might be over in 15 seconds.

So right clicking on Chrome and putting a check by "Show Bookmarks Toolbar" and having your bookmarks in the same exact spot as Firefox is too difficult for you?

-No Dedicated search bar
Uhm, the address bar IS the search bar. It's called the omni-box. Want to search another site other than your default search engine? Simply type the website, such as amazon.com, press tab, type your search, press enter. Done...search is performed and you are taking straight to the results.
-Nothing but another way to deliver Ads to the users
How so? My ad experiences are no different in chrome than any other browser.
-No way to move the Tab bar back below the URL bar
So? The tab bar is so small and unobtrusive, I don't know why would you want to move it below the address bar. In fact, it makes more sense to me. Tabs up top, then address bar (least used item for me), and then Bookmark bar (most used). All three of these elements don't take up many pixels so it's not like you have you strain your wrist moving the mouse a little further.
-Offers no customizations even close to Firefox's standard customizability or what you can modify through about:config or userchrome.CSS
Be more specific.

-I know the URL bar is the search bar. And it fucking sucks. If I want to do searches, I'll do them in my dedicated search box. On top of reduced functionality it's a privacy issue as well as EVERYTHING you type into your URL bar in Chrome is sent to Google. This is not a setting you can shut off either, it's a simple fact that anything you enter into the bar is sent to Google, regardless of whether it's a URL or a search paramter. That's the main reason why Firefox still has a dedicated search bar.

-Yeah, I'm sure it's not. Hey, wasn't Google advertising their Chromebooks on the add-on tab for Chrome during Black Friday? Yes, yes they were.

-Why should I care how YOU use your browser? I want to use my browser how *I* wish to use it. I don't use IE because it doesn't offer me the ability to customize my browsing experience. I don't use Chrome for the same reason. If I want tabs below the URL bar I shouldn't have some self-righteous asshole telling me that's wrong. I want my tab bar closer to me than farther away. That's my preference and I shouldn't have some stupid browser telling me I can't do that. Hell, speaking of how terribly uncustomizable IE, you can even change the tab positions in IE. Way to go Google!

And you can change the entire look and functionality of the browser through about:config and userchrome.CSS modifications. Stuff like enabing Pipelining, changing the functionality of button clicks, etc all without even needing an add-on. Once again Chrome doesn't even come close to offering that.

This expresses my POV right here. Jeezuz, some of these Chrome people are starting to remind me of the Cult of Mac. I guess Cult of Chrome will fit.
