Choice between 2 laptop proc

My brother is buying a new laptop. He is looking at two very similar models. They both are made by the same manufacturer , have 6 gb ram, and have 260M graphics cards. There is a difference in price and one has a blue ray. Neither the blue ray or the price difference matter to my brother. The difference is in the processor.
Nootbook A has a p8700 (Dual) 2.52g

Noteboob B has a Q9000 (Quad) 2.0g

He will be using the notebook to play video games like BF2 and newer shooters as they come out. He also plays some browser based games like tribal wars.

For his application which processor better suits his needs?

noteboob B. the quadcore will yield fewer fps in certain games (not by much though), but the overall laptop is much better. For games that support quads, it will be faster.

Gaming will be almost the same on the 2 processors with the Quad running only a hair slower than the Dual (with some exceptions -- ex: Supreme Commander). General usage/multitasking will be much snappier on the Quad. An important question to ask is how much time will the laptop be used on the road (i.e. on battery)? The Dual is a 25W chip whereas the Quad is 45W. Unless battery life is a huge issue I would go wi the Quad.

I concur. There are other factors to consider besides just pure raw power. However, all other aspects aside, I would go with the Quad.
