I have a semi easy/quick question. Back in the days of NF4 chipsets and Opty 165's and AMD chips now. A CPU'S stability was enhanced by increasing the voltage for the chipset when overclocking.Also when increasing the chipset voltage on said setups it allowed you to overclock without increasing the CPU voltage more than if you didnt increase the chipset voltage.
Now does the same apply to overclocking with C2D's? My current setup is:
MOBO: DQ6 Rev 2 F7 BIOS
CPU:6300 at 3050 1.38V in BIOS 24/7 stable Tested with dual instances of Prime95 and Orthos, and I run F@H almost all the time.
COOLER: Thermalright Ultra 120 with Aerocool 80+ CFM
VID: eVGA 7900GT volt modded to 625/850 (One of the original 7900GTs that were known not to OC well)
RAM: OCZ Plat Rev2 2GIG
HDD: 3 Seagate cuddas 320gigs each
SOUND: X-Fi
BTW, my chipset is at stock voltage and my RAM is .1 over stock. Thanks for the insight
