Hi guys i got the GeForce 6800Ultra BFG OC by manufacturer never had a problem with this video card, till yesterday that i played a level, but all i could see is purple checkered boxes. i reinstalled the drivers, used the driver cleaner program to uninstall the driver that i was using. cause i thought it was a driver problem. but the prob is still there. i tried to run a video card stress that the Counter Strike Source have and when i go in theres an error word showing where a moving mirror used to be at the start of it, dont really know what the problem is maybe my vid card dont know hope is not. if somebody had this problem please help me out.... i appreciate any help i can get thx

It would help if you told us what game you played insted of just "I played a level". I get this problem in HL2 if I OC my card to much but for me only one or two textures in the game will have the problem. What are your load temps on the card, what driver version are you running? More info would really help. If your temps are above 80C-90C ou are running a driver that isnt in the 7X.XX series then that may be your problem.

When you say your temps was at 50C is that normal or after playing games? The temp increases a lot when you're using intense 3d stuff. It sounds like a heat problem.

If someone posts a Purple Checkered Boxes Problem post, the ONLY game that does that is anything running under the seaming pile of .... power

The Source engine has always had these problems, set your clock back to default to play HL2 or CS:S

What Valve needs to address is why doesn't this happen in Doom? My opinion, better coding, but it seems to happen only on overclocked video cards so ... who knows.

The checkerboard problem only occurs if a change is made in the advanced video options. Changes such as, anti-aliasing, vertical sync, and maybe even water relflections, are the only options that cause them. And the fix? Simple, make those changes and restart the game.
