GJ! Keep it up! We may have some crazy 300,000PPD people on our team, but it's the little guys who do most of the work. For every heavy hitter we have, there are like 10-20 small guys like you that in the end produce more than the big guys. We salute you!

Fold on!
Fold [H]ard!
We are the [H]orde, you will be assimilated, resistance is futile!

Welcome!! Tell us about your setup. What clients are you running on what hardware and everything. We might be able to help you get more points out of what you have.

Don't be afraid to ask questions either! Welcome again!

i also have a ps3 that might see some action

Great way to get started...... but if your farm grows, the PS3 is most likely the first thing to go. It generates a good amount of points..... but uses a lot power for the ppd that it generates.

Well if you would like to get a good bit more points per day my advice would be to get the GPU client going on that 8800 and put your dual core to work on the SMP client. Not sure how many points the 8800 is getting right now, but I would imagine that combo would get you to at least 4000 ppd. Someone else can correct me for sure. And yes, that PS3 is good for about 900 points per day I believe. It is pretty reliable too but quite the space heater.

If you do not want to do the SMP client, which by the way would get you quite a bit more points per day, you could at least put the uniprocessor that you are currently running on your machine twice and allow advanced work units.

on the core 1.15 8800GT stock clock gets about 5200 PPD.. mild overclock see about 5600PPD.. 790:1875:1000(sorry my FF started tweaking out cant use the forward slash key) gets about 6100 PPD.. should be able to get about 730:1725:1000 without the 1.1v bios mod with the aftermarket cooler hes using..

Welcome, you'll enjoy the stay with the friendly teammates. Don't let their madness scare you since you will soon be confortable that way :D

mmmmm..... beer, I'm having one :)

welcome to the team,

and like everyone else says, get that GPU going, it's worth it.

Also started folding..
e8400, 4850 for now. :)
WIth the e8400 at stock and 4850 at 700/1175, which will produce more ppd?
Another 4850 coming for CF.

The video card should easily outproduce the CPU if going GPU2 vs. SMP. That being said, GPU2 + one standard client produces handy results, with some of the standard clients netting me about 600 PPD per client on a Q6600 @ 3.1 :D

I'm still hoping for the day the ATI client doesn't eat up all the CPU so i can run the SMP client too.

So I'm running both the console only CPU client as well as the GPU2 client. Is one instance of each the most production I'll get? Both processor cores as well as the gpu is at 100%. Do I need to run another CPU client for the other core..?

WELCOME antok86 and anybody else that is a new member of the [H]orde and new to DC'ing. IMHO the [H]orde is the greatest folding team in the world (I might be a little prejudice ) I also want to thank all of you "old timers" out there, even you "old timer" "old people" DC'ers like Mr relic (only kiddin', please no email bombs) :p

The deal is, whether you get a "ziilion" PpD or a couple of hundred PpD, just the fact you're helping find a cure for some ugly diseases that have plagued mankind for a while is what really counts. :p

Folding and WCGing for a CURE

So I'm running the ATI client as well- is ~60% cpu use normal then? I've got an e8400.. most games don't use this much.

Alright I am going to hijack this thread to get some help for me.

Tried to start folding a few days ago on my 8600 GT, but cant get even a single WU completed. Anyways thats besides the point.

I got 2gigs of ram, and a Core2Duo 6300 (1.86ghz). I wanna crank PPD. SMP client? Wtf? Read all the (very informative) stickys in here, but I need to know what client(s) I should install. Will they also work along side the GPU client (if it would work for me?)

Just get the SMP MPICH version so follow the right section of my guide. It can work together with a gpu client without problem just by playing with priorities.

Cool ill do it right now.

Also, on that page for the download link, might wanna fix it. Got a rel=nofollow or something in there :)

[00:53:51] CoreStatus = 1 (1)
[00:53:51] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x1
[00:53:51] This is a sign of more serious problems, shutting down.

Twice in a row now :(

F@H Hates Me.

P.s. Link in the DEINO version is broken too :p

EDIT: Gonna try the new beta as found on the forums.

Edit 2: Alright, new 6.23 version. I am still getting the core status error, but not the shutdown or the communication error. It just eats up queue after queue. Bah.

Edit 3:
- Calling 'mpiexec -np 4 -channel auto -host 127.0.0.1 FahCore_a1.exe -dir work/ -suffix 01 -cpu 95 -checkpoint 15 -verbose -lifeline 3624 -version 623'

Hangs at that every time. I saw a thread on the forums with ONE other person reporting this issue. Bruce had a few things to try, but none of them worked, and my machine pings to all three locations properly. I give up again.

Nice to have you folding with us. Most of us are harmless. ;)
