Cheapest Overclocker!? E4400 or E2180??

Iv been reading up on overclocking and want to try for my first time
So far im getting a gigavyte GA-G33M-DS2R motherboard
and I was wondering since the E2180 is like 40 dollers cheaper and same clock speed wouldnt it be te better buy?
Im hearing that in fact its better at overcloking too.

What are your thoughts?
 
If you are making a budget gamer box, I would go with the cheaper cpu and put the $40 into a heatsink or towards the video card or getting at least 2GB of 4 4 4 12 PC6400 memory. If not on a budget, then I dont know.
 
the stock hs will do fine on the e4400 up to 3ghz, no problem.

i dont know about the e2xx's, but from the performance of my e4300, i wouldnt recommend anything but a 4xxx series to you!
 
I would say that from what I have heard, the E2 series are amazing overclockers, a bit better than the E4 series. If you are planning on making a cheap gaming machine, then definately go for the cheaper ones, as the extra cache offered by the high models isn't needed. Then, buy a Tuniq Tower 120 and an S-Flex fan to go with it, then you have some really nice overclocks coming up.
 
either chip will make you happy in the short run :) personally, i didnt even want a 4 series, but i got a good deal on it, and havent looked back. it does what i need stock.
 
when i was putting my system together i considered the 2xxx series but i went with the 4400 instead because it has more cache, i have a asrock board so i can still use my AGP card and have it a 2.66 which not too bad, i havent bothered to push it any further because it does what i need it too do.
