Cheap upgrade, suggestions?

Right now I'm running a 2.4 Core 2 Duo, an 7900 GS video card (yuck) and have 2 gigs of ram.

I play a lot of games that are CPU heavy (NWN, NWN2, Defense Grid).


I'm thinking that I might be able to upgrade my CPU/Video card for cheap and still have a decent gaming gig.

I was thinking maybe a 3.2 Core2Duo and a Geforce 2xx ?

What would you guys suggest for $400?

You didn't answer the mobo question. Also use CPU-Z to check out the speed of your RAM.

Supposedly an MSI 9800GT will be on sale for $80 - $20 rebate on Newegg come Monday, which is a sizable upgrade from a 7900GS. Seen here:

Overclock your existing cpu to 3 ghz. Dual cores have a lot of overclocking headroom. For video card, get a 4890 for around $200. Save the rest of your money for the next pc build.
