Cheap SCSI cables?

I want to find a 68 pin SCSI cable with a terminator, but I am having a hard time justifying $45 just for that. I want a short one....doesn't even need devices....just one end into the controller, and one end terminated. I have a Proliant Server with two SCSI ports, and I need to terminate one of the ports to get my RAID controller working. Anyone know where I can get a cable cheap?
 
Are you sure you need to terminate the other port? Typically the controller itself will auto-terminate the bus if it is at the end. Check in the BIOS settings for the controller that auto-termination is enabled.

I guess it's possible that you have one of those few, rare controllers that won't do this, or the on-board termination is broken. If that's the case, you don't have to even buy the entire terminated cable. You should be able to plug a terminator directly into the connector on the card.
 
It's a Server Feature Board for a Proliant ML350 G1. It won't boot with my Smart Array 3200 controller, unless I remove the server features board. Then it gives me an error that the board is necessary. I have two sets of cables. One is for the hard drives, and is terminated. The other is an empty cable that's terminated. The server works fine if they are both connected to the server features board. If one of the ports is open, the server won't boot. My goal is to terminate both of the onboard channels, and use the drives on my RAID controller.
 
i've gotten cables in the past from cables.com and they seemed cheap at the time.
 
I'd send you one for the cost of shipping but i'm not at home anymore :(
 
Can you plug a terminator directally into the connector on the board?

All terminators I've seen are female...and so are the ports on the server features board.

I have 2 brand new U160/320 cables that were custom built for me. I don't need them, and I'm tired of them sitting around.


each one is a 6 device (8 connector(system, 6 devices, + terminator). it's 4' long between the system and the first device connector; and either 6 or 8 inches between each device after that.

4 feet? Damn! Do you have the terminator on the end? If so, we might make a deal. HP Support tells me it should work fine without a terminator, but I'm not holding my breathe. I am going to try later on tonight when I can take the server offline.

I knew I should have gone. I hate to miss those. They are much bigger than the ones in Fort Washington or U of Delaware.

Anyway, I think I may have gotten it to work before I left today. I'll know more tomorrow when I try to reload the OS.

What do you mean by that? The terminator should always go at the end of the cable.
 
the terminators are detachable and can be plugged into any of the 68 pin connectors; i.e. it's not placed at the end of the cable permanently.

And no, no earmuffs required: I was going to use all Panaflo L1A fans(12/7 switched at that)...actually, when I fired up all the fans and the PSU, the PSU fan was the loudest.
