i need to find something capable of running a 8800gt for as cheap as possible. but i dont want to go so cheap as to get complete crap. im looking for used or new any ideas

OP, $45-$55 is the cheapest psu recommendation you'll find in this forum. IMHO take your pick from those provided already ;)

You're spending $10-$15 more upfront but those are efficient 80plus power supplies so you'll eventually make up the cost on your energy bill.

its for my little brother so the cheaper the better

Okaayyy, that still doesn't change any of the recommendations here so far. The Seasonic 350W PSU that Zero82z is the cheapest but quality PSU I can recommend as of this moment in time, online or at a B&M.

Well trash me if you like but I got a *booster* for my little Bro to run his new 8800gt in a dell case and he's very happy with it... Never makes a noise apart from on startup. Cheap and easy too. Future proof too. Looks nice too. Did I say cheap and easy?

Booster? wtf ? Dude, do not skimp on a PSU , it will come back to bite you in the ass.

@Kangg, it's probably one of those FSP or Ultra secondary PSUs that fit into the 5.25" bays. Should be ok as long as it's a good-quality one. The FSPs are actually called Boosters BTW.

I asked for it - you trashed me.

It works and is completely reversible (Dell PC still on warranty)

I have a coolermaster realpower 700W for my rig - but it's screwed to a piece of plywood so I can hack and slash wherever I like... For Bro's machine I had to think differently

EDIT: And another thing:

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/08/10/review_fsp_booster_x3/

Anandtech have a review I think or someone has.

Was really hard to find one in UK tho - mainstream suppliers don't touch it *Because ppl keep trashing boosters*

Ahh, I vaguely remember hearing about those when they first came out, Supposed to be a PSU just for video card or something like that? Never kept up with em to see if they were worth a shit.
