Hi there,

I want to revive a SilverStone SG05 with new CPU, mainboard and RAM.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

The machine will be used for light gaming and regular web stuff. Nothing else can be expected for the budget I'm going with.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

I've outlined two component options below, both revolve around EUR 200.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

Germany

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

CPU, mainboard, RAM.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

Case is a SilverStone Sugo SG05, so the PSU will be the 300w unit that it comes with.

Also using a Samsung 120GB SSD. Monitor, keyboard, etc. are all available.

6) Will you be overclocking?

No.

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?

1680x1050 will probably be the highest resolution.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

I want to put the machine together mid December, so I'd like to have everything within the next 3 weeks or so.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.

USB 3.0 would be cool.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Win7 license is available.

There's two basic routes I see for this. Intel CPU + dedicated GPU or AMD APU.

AMD:

1 x AMD A8-6500, 4x 3.50GHz, boxed (AD6500OKHLBOX)
1 x Corsair XMS3 DIMM Kit 4GB, DDR3-1600, CL9-9-9-24 (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)
1 x ASRock FM2A85X-ITX (90-MXGPQ0-A0UAYZ)

Intel:

1 x Intel Pentium G3220, 2x 3.00GHz, boxed (BX80646G3220)
1 x Corsair XMS3 DIMM Kit 4GB, DDR3-1600, CL9-9-9-24 (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)
1 x XFX Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition, Double Dissipation Edition, 1GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort (FX-777A-ZDF4)
1 x ASRock H81M-ITX (90-MXGPN0-A0UAYZ)

Sorry for the foreign links :D

The Intel option would be EUR 30-40 more expensive, but would it provide a significant performance gain over the AMD APU?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, without a doubt. If you can afford the Intel setup, go get it.
