Building a PC to play mp3s into a stereo, and occasionally project movies on the wall. Secondary function will be as a file server for two people. Cost is the most important factor. Looks would be second. I prefer black but can live with a nice silver case. Socket 462. Don't care about good graphics, gigabit is a plus but nothing to be worried about for now.
Any suggestions would be great
 
Well the cheapest route is often a diy solution, building from scratch that is.

Something like this desktop atx case and your choice of mobo. Heck you can even upgrade the psu a tad while you're there :D

Otherwise, there are lots of Biostar/shuttle barebone rigs floating around, the nforce2 equipped ones are among the cheapest. If you're ok with refurbs then newegg might have something for ya.
 
Search online forums for people selling their older stuff. I got a P4 Shuttle system (SB65G2) for $150 shipped, with a carrying case. There are good deals to be had from people who are upgrading.

I second a vote for a Biostar sff....usually a few bucks cheaper than Shuttle. For me, the fact that the Biostar hides the ROM drives is a big plus. 200N (nforce2) is usualy $200. Theres also a 210v or 210nv or something that uses a different chipset that sells for <$170
