cheap gaming build, need some help

Let me start by saying this will be my first computer build, and until about 3 days ago i knew nothing about building a computer and how overwhelming it is. That being said im really worried about compatiabilty issues. the insperation for this build is the pending release of diablo 3( which will probably make me a single man again) and i have been looking at components based on the recomended specs listed for this game. i would like this machine to last a year or two, and im not opposed to uppgrading down the line. my budget is around 500 bucks, just because i would like to build it by the release of the game, may 15. if in 6months i have to uppgrade something that shouldnt be a problem, ill have lots of money when im single.

ive decied to go the amd route.
im going to need every thing.
case, psu, cpu, mobo, memory, gpu, hdd,
i plan on using an old mouse and keyboard until i can afford new ones. and i plan on using my tv as the monitor for now. i couldnt find the resolution but its a vizio 47" 1080p 120 hz

i will list some of the things i was thinking of buying, im worried about some minor overlooked issue such as a 20pin connector for my psu and the board uses a 24 pin. im also a lttile confused about the pciE version. the mobos that i have looked at dont mention the the version and im assuming that its uppgraded to the newest upon instal. like i said im VERY new to this.

as far as the memory and case im not too picky. my require ments for a case is that it has built in fans and is around 50 bucks. also do the fans plug into the mobo or the psu

i plan on buying 8g of memory but havnt looked at too much of that yet. im aware of the differnt types (1333 2000... and will buy what every my mobo accepts.

being very new to this i dont plan on doing any OC or using mulitiple gpu at first but may in the future.

i know there are things im forgetting and would love to hear any imput from the pros on this.

There is nothing wrong with buying used hardware and most of the time people upgrade so quickly that the used hardware is still under warranty.

I typically do this.. I buy an Asus motherboard, a 880g like this one http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A88TMUSB3/

then I usually have my trusty sempron 140 on hand, a cheap $25 cpu that unlocks to a dual core..

I get all my goods, hdd, case, etc then grab a better cpu later then a video card.. in your situation since you already have the funds you can select some great hardware now and with $500 you can get a really nice system...

Is diablo 3 all you plan to play on this pc mainly?

I'm very close to orlando Fl, the compusa's in altamonte they have good deals too as you already know.. I might have some extra stuff too if you need it, just let me know.
 
ive had gigabyte before and i liked it, although it was a p55 chipset.. just be sure to crosscheck your reviews.

I wouldnt get that cpu.. for $30 more you can get what I have, 960T quad @ 3ghz with 6mb cache + chance to unlock to 6 cores...
 
you dont want to get that psu either... get a decent antec from newegg... solid psu and affordable..

Anyway, OP, I'd start from scratch again. The parts you chose aren't that great. The GPU is overpriced a bit, the PSU is of low quality, and from a performance standpoint, you're actually better off with an Intel setup.

Please answer these questions so that we can help you better:

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? UEFI? etc.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
11) How big of a hard drive do you want?

dual 38a 12v rails.. antec are solid.. ive owned a few and have abused them with no ill result. if modualr isnt important this is a good deal.

this is great cheap yet solid memory.. if fancy heatspreaders and insane overclocking arent in your future.. 8gb of this for $40 cant be beaten

i use this board... very solid, plenty of features... if you need sata6gbs and usb 3.0 then there is a stup up... this one is great if you dont plan to use that other stuff for a while...

with its plenty powerful 4250 (relative) you can use your computer and wait to snatch a deal on a video card closer to diablos 3 release.. plus with hdmi, your tv connects easily.

thanks for the info. i will look into some intel stuff tonight. as of now this is being built exclusivily for d3 but i would like to be able to play most any thing that comes out in the next year or so. i dont do any video editing and rarely use the internent. my phone is fine for that. i dont have an os in mind but my friend who is in school can get me a what i ever i need at a discount, i think. i have yet to talk to him about it.i would like a mobo that is crossfire ready, that is really the only feature i can think that i would need. i dont need usb3.o or plan on using an external hd. when i comes to my hdd i plan on getting something in the 300-500 gb rang probably a wd, just because that seems to be the brand everyone uses. i may want to use this computer to stream movies and music as well. im not sure about using a mobo with a built in gpu. since im new to this im not sure if i can link an after market gpu with the one built on the board. thanks again for the imput.
