cheap / decent usb dac

I need something to use at work, without buying a soundcard to put inside, so something that will work with USB preferably, the only thing I've seen so far is the e7/e9?
Can I use JUST the e9? or is there no DAC in it at all?

The E9 is just an amp. Get the e10, it has a better sound than the e7. The e7 works with any input, however, the e10 just has USB.
 
The Behringer UCA202 is pretty decent if you are using speakers. The headphone out on that device isnt so great though.

I ordered my Standalone ODAC from JDSLabs a couple days ago, so I am expecting an email soon saying when to expect delivery. I have no idea of how many people are in front of me.

Yeah it is. However, you probably would not be able to tell the difference b/w it and a setup 3 to 4 times the price. I am waiting on a used one on headfi to pop up in a year or two like always. Until my wife gets out of school I can't afford to be trendy.

yea but this is too much for my intended purpose, playing mp3s off of my work pc =p, anything better than onboard sound would be good.
 
Just get an e7 or e10 then... It's not gonna match an ODAC by any means, or even a Xonar STX, but it's still a good value and better than on board sound.
 
Yeah, I agree for you e7 or e10 is probably what you want.

The amazingness of the O2+ODAC is that it's usually indistinguishable from the Benchmark DAC-1 which is ~$1000.
 
actually, on that note, these headphones are not too comfortable, is there something a bit more comfy in a closed headphone that isn't going to break the bank?
