Cheap case I/O panel hell

Got this cheap piece of junk case that I'm trying to stick a motherboard in for a friend. I/O bracket won't stay put for the life of me. Any recommendations on how to fix the cheap POS other than resorting to a little sledgehammer action? (after seeing IceWind's thread earlier, it's very tempting...)

And yes, I tried pliers.
 
In my experience the I/O plate hasn't stayed put by itself; it has been necessary to seat the motherboard in the case which holds it in place. Or have you done this?
 
Yeah it pops out on one end all crooked-like. Too bad I don't have access to a MIG welder anymore.
 
Not to sound all low tech, or anything....but have you considered two-sided tape? super glue?? I mean honestly, it doesn't have to look primo, since it's on the back of the case, right? :)
 
Nothing like coming back later when you're alot less frustrated...okay fine so I came back later with a hammer and some pliers, and after getting really low-tech on its ass, finally got the thing to stay in. No blood even, for once. :D

it's not gonna hurt anything if you leave it out. maybe some extra dust will get in there, but it won't be anyhting bad. I've had to leave out an I/O shield plate and there was nothing wrong with it.
