What would be the cheapest cpu i can get to test a p6t vanilla. I bought one off of ebay with bent pins and straightened them out.

id rather not risk burning a 100+ dollar cpu if the board decides to fry it. Im looking cheap like 50 dollars or so

The i7 920 is the lowest CPU for the 1366 platform. You cannot get any lower.

Didnt you research first before buying the P6t? You would of known then that the 1366 socket was Intels old top of the line platform :/

Always do research before buying a product.

There was a single Celeron for the 1366 too, the P1053. Thats pretty cheap according to this (but only 2 threaded) so it's probably the lowest level 1366 chip by far. Seems like it might be pretty rare (and probably quite expensive...I don't see the point of it...other than if you needed triple channel ram and lots of PCIe lanes...and next to no CPU ). :D

here is the p6t's official processor support list: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/P6T/#CPUS

other CPU's may work, but that is your official list. i'm betting the xeon listed on ebay above would work, but you may need ecc ram with that, not too sure on that one either though

i got my i7 920 used with asrock x58 extreme6 motherboard for $180 on the forums here. there are plenty of people selling 920's for $100 and maybe you could drive that down even more with trades or something.

Look for an E5502, E5504, E5506
Those are cheap low end lga1366 xeon cpus.
They will work in 99% of all motherboard.
They will work with standard desktop ram as well.
