"Changes" Editorial @ [H] Consumer

It seems that most people who posted in the FNW thread didn't bother to read the "Changes" Editorial. IMO, I think the review was well done and stuck with their plan for evaluating systems.

In order to eveluate the "total consumer experience", they including everything from build to customer support. Yes they had some bad luck, but they came out with a recommendation in the end. Why? Because FNW has proven their build quality time and time again, and they were able to stand ebhind this system even though it was a bad apple in the bunch. IMO, to say it was NOT recommended because of one bad system would be very unfaithful to the consumer... the truth is that on the whole FNW is reliable, and they have the tech support and customer service to back it up.

BTW mods if this is straying too close to the other topic, delete it, but I think the way the FNW was wrote relates well to this one.

I don't want to threadjack and talk about specifics in the review, just simply wanted to point out that as a Consumer, presumably the target audience, I felt that the review was a departure from the dozens of others that got me reading and enjoying these forums and this site. I stated my reasons before and those specifics aren't relevant to the point I wanted to make here.

[H] without a doubt has the best review system I've seen anywhere, whether its console games or full PC integrations. Period. I'm not trying to threadjack or flamebait, I'm just a cheerleader wanting my favorite team to keep putting out winners.

As this applies to general [H] Consumer policy, let me say this - in reference to all articles, including the recent Falcon article:

Optimally, our scores should not matter to you. We add them as a point of reference of what WE think of the machine, not what we think YOU should think of the machine.

This may sound very strange, but the goal of this program is to get you to start thinking for yourselves. The fact that you have a different opinion of this or that integrator is a great thing. That means that you've taken the testing rubric and knowledge base that we have, and applied your own set of ethics and expectations to it.

In the Falcon article, if you thought that we got an absolute lemon experience and their support crew didn't fit the bill - great, that's your opinion. Use it and remember it, and the next time you're in the market for a machine or you want to recommend one to someone, you have the tools to do so. As for us, we have our own opinions, and we always score a system in what we believe to be the best interest of the readership. Believe me folks, that ain't always easy.

You guys have thoughts, concerns - beautiful - that means we did our job. We gave you all of the information you need to build your own conclusions, and no one yet has disputed that. We recounted our experience exactly as it happened, which is what we do in every article.

So, with that, that's the last I want to hear about the FNW scoring. If you have a question about our experience, please feel free to email or PM me. Any other responses will be deleted from the forums. Kyle's made a decision.
