Just put the SMP client on the MacBookPro. I had the old terminal client running when I realized that it's optimized for PPC, not Intel. We'll see how that turns out. It was folding awfully slowly with the old client, and not many points (but I don't really care about ppd). Hopefully the SMP client will do more work in a shorter period of time.

I also put the SMP client on my home desktop which is an E2160 @ 3.2Ghz with 4GB of RAM instead of two regular clients.

The only comps I have running the regular clients is my ubuntu laptop running two console clients and an HP CoreDuo laptop only running one client. A few of my friends have offered to run it so I might get a few more cores running it which is good. Yay for [h]umanity.
 
The SMP client definitely does a lot more work in regards to points. The SMP work units are a lot tougher to fold than the normal work units. That's one of the reasons why they have such a large point bonus as well as the really short deadlines. Stanford has said that prior to multicore processors, these work units and projects would have been practically impossible to complete in a timely manner.

 
The SMP client is the main reason why I am getting so many ppd recently.

It's too bad Affinity Changer is not made for MAC....or is it?

I have not seen it for MAC. Just Windows and 64 Bit Windows.



 
Per your post, I installed the Affinity Changer on my desktop. Seems like it will take a little more than a full day to complete one WU so we'll see what the time is after.
 
A regular client of mine just finished a WU, probably 300point one but my MBP just finished its first SMP and wow it was big, something like 1500 points. Hardfolding hasn't updated yet but the stanford site did and all I can say is wow, they must be BIG WUs.

All 5 instances of the SMP client I have running are chewing on 1760 pointers. These are the best for PPD. Right now all 5 clients add up to just under 11k PPD. The 4 instances I have running on my overclocked Q6600's@3.6 and 3.51Ghz chew through one of the 1760 pointers in about 18 hours each. My X2@3Ghz takes about 31 hours to chew through one of them. My old E6400@3.4Ghz also took about 18 hours to go through one of these things.

That's why people are running the SMP clients. Since I'm running the clients under Linux I get a bit better PPD than the WinSMP client as it's a bit more efficient. I'm probably taking a little bit of a hit on PPD since I'm also running the clients in VMs.

Did I read this correctly? You have 4 SMP instances on your quad??

SmokeRngs is running 2 Quads 1x @3.6 Ghz & 1x @ 3.51 Ghz.

I'm running 18 SMP clients for a total of around 28.5K PpD.
I'm hopeing once I've finished upgradeing my Duals to Quads to hit the 40K PpD mark off 24 clients.

Tiger has it right. I have two quads (for now) and run 4 instances between the two. Then again, he's seen me gloat on IRC about my overclocks with my two quads versus Killer's, Bill's and relic's overclocks so I'm sure he has my little garden memorized by now. :eek::D
