Anyone had problems getting there sata drives to work with this board? I am currently trying to get the bios to detect that I have the sata drives connected. I do know they are good drives, tried different sata cables, and tried all 4 sata ports. I'm asking here first because chaintech's site lacks a tech support section.

Are they the drives with the 16mb cache? I've heard that several NF4 boards have problems with them, not just the Chaintech. I'd make sure you have the latest BIOS and all that stuff since the "drivers" for the SATA is now in BIOS (nice when loading SATA ports in Windows).

Yes these are the 16m cache and I have the latest bios (3/15/05). I filled out the tech request form on chaintech's site. Maybe I'll hear something from them within the next week.

I hope it works out for you. I have one of those drives also, and it works fine for me with my NF4 board (don't boot off it though). Maybe you can fix it with a driver/firmware for the HDD. Check Maxtor's site. I heard something about that possibly fixing it (or complaining about why Maxtor hadn't done something about it...don't remember :) ).

I started looking for firmware updates on there site but havent come across what i'm looking for. I may need to call there support to get access to it.

thanks I'll keep trying that route.

Call their tech support, I remember that Maxtor was having some issues with the 16mb cache drives and NF4 boards and the HDDs would be in need of a firmware update.
