emachines T3025
3000+ AMD Athlon XP Processor
160 GB Hard Drive
CD-RW 48x Max Write
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU
DVD 16x Max Read
512 MB DDR SDRAM
10/100 Mbps Ethernet
I finally got this card and had a lot of trouble. In the unpack section, the manual said to install the cd first, so I installed the driver from the disk with device manager. I got a warning sign saying it wasn't compatible, so I didn't reboot the computer (thank gosh). But then I read the software section (later in the book) and it says installing hardware must be done prior to software. So then I auto updated the driver and got it back to Nvidia Geforce4 MX Integrated.
Then I followed the manual to install the hardware. The Geforce4 is onboard, so I didn't have to take it out. I put the 6600 in the AGP slot, plugged in the monitor, and my emachines computer didn't have the big E when it started up. It had that flashing "testing" message that it has when the computer is shut down and the monitor is off. Other than that, it was black, and nothing happened. I plugged the monitor into my onboard graphics card, and nothing happened. Then I plugged the monitor into the onboard and started it up. Nothing happened. The manual didn't seem to help
Then I took out the 6600 and plugged the monitor into the onboard graphics card, and it started up. But how there's a big problem. I have 4 bit colors and a 640 by whatever thingy, like in safe mode, and changing the display settings doesn't help. I even tried double clicking Nvidia Desktop Manager in control panel and it doesn't show up. I rebooted, and the colors didn't come back. The only thing that looks good is the Windows XP sign when it starts up
The graphics card was supposed to be compatible, so I don't know why all this is happening. I don't know how I'm gonna fix it, and I'm even thinking about sending the graphics card back to newegg, because this is a total pain. I've been working on this for over 3 hours
