Yeah. Historically CES has been about TVs and laptops and digicams way more often than not.
 
I dunno. I'm not actually that impressed with anything I see from shuttle that I actually want once I see the price tag. The J3 price is likely to be comparable to the SX58H7. Which is around 600 bux for a mobo, case, and psu. Thats around 200 bux more than I'd actually at most be willing to spend on those 3 components combined if I wasnt buying a barebones system.

but there in an area no one else is, so you pay for that. Theres no other mitx x58 solution except shuttle.

Beyond that they're also the smallest by a good margin. Less than 13 liters for the H7 and likely the J chasses, which no one else really hits in a performance chassis.

I think the SP55J2 will be worth the money. It's very similar to the SG45H7 in positioning and that unit was quite reasonably priced for the value IMO. But the top-tier products never are and likely will not be (SX58H7, SX58J3).
 
Its just not worth 600 bux in my opinion. In time there will be cheaper alternatives so I'm cool waiting it out with my p55 sg05 until then.

How is the SG05 PSU holding up with the p55? what GPU have you got?
 
Its great right now. I have seen no power problems with it. I'm running a 5770. Future upgrade path for me is 5850 and the new 450w psu when it comes out, or just buy the new sg07 instead and get something beefier in terms of vid cards. Also, I'm not trying to totally hate on shuttle. If I was looking to spend up to $1500 when i was building my system I would def. have considered one of thier x58 boxes. I was just looking for something that was cheaper.

I don't think you'll need a 450W just to move up to the 5850.

It's a good step for them to allow for non-proprietary motherboards. The flexibility and upgradeability was the main reason I moved to and SG01 instead. Do the new shuttles allow for flexiblity with the PSU? When I had my SN25P I had a couple power supplies die, they had either 30 or 90 day warranties, they were expensive for the watts, and you really didn't have any other options on the market.

I like the idea of the SG07, even smaller than the SG01 but still allows for a full size gaming card. Are mini-itx boards as common as micro-atx?
 
Not really, but there is *some* choice.

Zotac 9300-ITX for Core 2 LGA775.
DFI LP MI P55 for Core i3/i5/i7 LGA1156.

Nothing as of yet for LGA1366 - but then the main advantage of X58 is two PCIe x16 lanes, which mini-ITX can't support due to board size. Also most of the LGA1366 CPUs tend to have a TDP of over 100W, so they put a strain on most mini-ITX PSUs.

Of course, there's the H55/H57 chipsets coming soon, which a plethora of boards based on them. They're all going to be LGA1156 as well, the main feature of them being support for the onboard VGA found on the 32nm Core i3/i5 CPUs that went on sale a week or so ago.
