Cellphones Killing Bee Population?

Fuck GM foods. Dangerous shit, and the complications possible are such a long list it's an unfair uncertainty.

We have been genetically modifying our food for millennia either through cross breeding or selecting natural mutations.

Corn is a good example. It is a natural mutant grass.

Do you have any evidence to back up your fear of genetically modified foods?

To simplify genetic modification through a petri dish and manual DNA manipulation by comparing it to cross breeding plants to produce desired traits is an underhanded form of making an argument against suspecting disastrous possible outcomes with GMO foods.

Corn is a great example, I believe if you do a GS like I suggested originally for Monsanto and Corn you'll find my logic is not without reason. I am not some godfearing whacko that thinks science should stand still for nature.

I just honestly think that tampering with the foundations of nature could indeed lead us to literally bite off the hand that feeds us. I don't expect that to stop the science though, hell initially some of the scientists studying the first atomic bomb thought it would initiation a reaction that could possibly destroy our entire atmosphere. Didn't happen and now we can nuke whoever we want!

;)

You can atleast respect my point of view can't you? What's the value of our crops which seem to grow alright as they are vs saving some bucks?

Regardless of the cause this is a pretty serious situation. I started following the story last year and it's gotten a lot worse. This year's crop yield will illustrate more of the impact than last year. Particularly crops like Oranges, Plums and the like. Not to mention honey and products that contain honey.

Yes, which is why I asked if you have any evidence. I am curious because I have not seen anything to back up your claims of possible horror stories coming from genetically modified foods.

Thanks for being polite about it!

Additional problems outside of that initial corn scare incident I'm speaking of, are underhanded business practices in third world countries like seedless rices etc. that force poor farmers to reseed instead of nature taking it's course.

Imagine if these plants managed to mingle their way into nature and force other species the traits of seedlessness. That'd be an insane scenario as well.

Again, I wouldn't expect to hinder science but I fear a company will very well take shortcuts that treaten all of us in an attempt to save money.

Whether or not the bees are suffering as a result..... well what do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino right?

;)

Yeah, capitalism is the greatest tool for innovation, but also can be problematic when considering basic needs (food, water, air, medicine, etc..). For instance food marketing has increased our rate of disease in order to turn a profit...

Either way if genetic modification is controlled and regulated properly it could help increase the world's standard of living (although, I am really only concerned about my standard of living).

You're concerned about your standard of living... I'm just concerned about having some honey with my peanut butter sandwhiches man.

I'm not sure how many of you actually read the article. The colonies are dying because the workers are missing. They can't even find the bodies (just the drones and queens left behind).

There is empirical evidence that electro-magnetic radiation can affect the navigation of bees. Hell, I've even heard bees communicate the location of pollen sources by dancing. Are you going to make fun of that theory too?

It seems a bit far fetched that cell phones are actually causing the problem unless this has been a gradual decline or there has been a frequency change that has caused the drastic decline. It could be gradual, we're still covering Anna Nicole after all. Stupid media...there is some evidence that bees will not return to the hive if a cell phone is placed near it. But how could it be that a low power cell phone is to blame? Unless the cell towers are doing the harm?

But Aspartame is thought to promote cancer. Then again, everything causes cancer anyway.

Guess someone's gonna have to invent and mass produce robot bees with synthetic yet realistic bee parts to keep with pollination.

Dude I say screw all that shit I eat REAL sugar.

:)

Course, I'm not a lazy fat body so I'm actually in OK shape. Well, that and I don't consume anything with HFCS in it. Or that any of those fake sugars.

I for one welcome our realistic robotic bea pollination replication overlords.

Why?

Btw, sugar beet molasses supposedly helps alleviate depression due to it's uridine content.

http://www.onhealth.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=55995

Should have fed some of that to the Virginia shooter.

Well initially I had the ill formed opinion that HFCS was somehow a worse sugar than the others due to some crap I'd read. Much reading later I came to the conclusion that this was not the case.

So, in the process of eliminating HFCS from my diet, because of how HFCS is used in American foods, I eliminated most of the crap from my diet.

So I mostly make food instead of purchasing packaged food, and occasionally baked goods or whatever end up having real sugar in them. So I guess it's just convenient for my purposes to avoid HFCS just in general because it's cheaper in the US and used to keep some foods moist it's more likely to eat a ton of it than not if you eat it at all.

Keeps the necessary exercise to stay in good shape minimal you know?

I'll spare you any rants or tirades on personal belief in supporting GMO crops.... I'm not personally afraid of GMO HFCS persay, but I don't want to support it at all. I'm the kind of consumer that votes with my wallet.
