CDW Outlet Finds

I have been trying to figure out when they change prices and I think I have narrowed it down a little.
It seems like video cards will drop in price sometime late Sunday or early Monday morning.
That's a pretty big window but I need to sleep sometime.
I was watching a Radeon WX 7100 that was $375 for a while because I knew it would drop. Monday morning it was $303 but out of stock. Someone else knows this drop time better than me.
Other video cards have dropped during the same gap between late Sunday to Monday morning.
Of course other types of parts may have their own price drop schedules.
This makes sense.. I have been eyeing a monitor and noticed it dropped in price sometime the past 2 days.. Because I checked it Saturday night and noticed it dropped Monday night.. So that seems to be the right frame of time...

I've tried to figure this out as well, but can't figure out a day versus just weekly until a certain percentage off MSRP, the highest discounts being near 80-90%, but not always the case.

Saw this and it's almost a good $100 off the normal price for new from a reputable retailer:
https://www.cdw.com/product/MSI-GEFORCE-GTX-1070-8GB-GDDR5X-PCIE/5354977?pfm=srh

A bit pricey, but these MSI laptops are significantly cheaper than any other place I could find them:

This small MSI desktop is also a pretty good steal at almost $500 off anywhere else I can find it:

A lot of sites drop the price when an item goes out of stock to generate traffic with a great deal, without actually having to offer it.

I'm not saying this is what's happening for sure, but i saw it a lot in the days of tigerdirect, suberbiz, etc.

Yeah, the CDW outlet is a different animal since most of these items are just a single quantity, and when it's gone, it's usually gone for good. Although I have found that sometimes refreshing will bring an item back into stock and also that when something shows in stock it may not be if they can't find it in the warehouse. I always call for outlet items and confirm availability before placing an order.

Wow. I didn't know CDW outlet was a thing. I live 15 mins from the Vernon Hills warehouse
Oh wow, you're about 10m away from me in Deerfield then. (y) Picking up stuff is the best bet as the will call process is super easy. I prefer that method when getting anything.
I live about 20-25. Hello fellow Illinoisian!
Cool! Another local. We should have a little get together at my apartment complex--I've got access to a business center and a resident lounge by the pool. :)

Definitely! I’m in Buffalo Grove near Lou Malnatis

This could be awesome but for some reason it ended up to be 300+ at checkout and that kills it. Also, shipping was almost 16 bucks?
I was also looking for Gskill Ripjaws series X PC-1700 to add another 8GBs to my lowly specs and I couldn't find it here. It seems I'm going to have to waste some time getting to know this site and the outlet site as well.

Yum! We should have a meet there instead!

The only thing I could think of would be sales tax depending on where you are. Shipping of $16 is about right. I have a deep discount on UPS rates and that's about as cheap as it gets to ship something about the size of a video card box inside another box with packaging.

That's one of the things I like about the Provantage open-box section--shipping is free on everything there. I got a 1U 2000va+ ups for a little over $100 and shipping the box must have been almost that much as the thing weighed and was around the size of a full depth 36" 1u server.

I am in Florida so almost 17 bucks for shipping plus almost 19 for taxes kills this good deal... I have a funny feeling the GTX 1070s will drop to 300 or less for the holidays

Yep, all the good vendors are going to move to collecting taxes. It was inevitable as the way most places have their licensing and tax laws set up now if you even sell into an area you're responsible for the taxes and having a business license. It's going to make it hard for a lot of companies as each city, county, and state can have their own rules that a seller has to keep up with. Thank goodness for computers to keep up with all this stuff, but you still have to set it up.

I agree on the 1070s dropping. And you know the 1080s will drop too. I'm thinking 1060 6gbs will drop under $100 soon.

i've seen 1070s for less than $300 on /r/hardwareswap and [H]ardforums for sale :p IF the 1060s 6gb go under $100 then you're talking my language and $OLD

Wow, lots of IL people here. I'm in Palatine.

Just noticed this: https://www.cdw.com/product/ASUS-RADEON-RX-580-4GB-GDDR5-2-FAN/5392770?pfm=srh

ASUS RADEON RX 580 4GB RX 580 4GB - 107.99

The regular (non B Stock) is really cheap too: https://www.cdw.com/product/ASUS-DUAL-RX580-O4G-OC-Edition-graphics-card-Radeon-RX-580-4-GB/4597467
It's only 122.99

Yep...if I didn't have a bunch left over from mining, I'd pick one up. I recently got a $210 XG2402 (not from CDW) for 144hz/Freesync & I have been playing metro LL (finished yesterday) and Just Cause 2 (started yesterday) and it looks fantastic with Freesync. This card + $200 freesync monitor is about the same price as a g-sync monitor alone in many cases...

Small world! And we all get to take advantage of the same day pickup from CDW. (y) And we seriously need to plan a meet up at Lou's in Buffalo Grove. :) I'm all over the place until about the 30th of this month.

I'm almost 100% sure that will drop below $100 in the next 2 weeks since most outlet stuff will get to at least 50% of msrp/listed retail before it gets liquidated. So it will be a great buy in a short time. :)

Ok so another stupid question... how do you search on the Outlet website? For instance, I went to that GTX1070 outlet and search for other GTX 1070s or TIs and all I found was the ones with regular price.

IL here as well not that bad of a deal maybe we make a list for a gathering :D

Go to CDW.com and then select the outlet catalog in the drop down to the left of the search box. The search box then changes to 'search cdw outlet' and whatever you search will search the outlet. (y)

Awesome! Thanks
You're welcome. The search also searches the cdw part number and manufacturer model number field as the description can be wrong at times and you won't find something that is in the outlet, so that's another way to find things that are just lost in the outlet waiting to be plucked. (y)

Well forget my theory about Sunday night or Monday mornings only for video cards. I was just searching and noticed some price drops. I think the last time I checked some things was yesterday morning. Anyway, there may be some deals now if you look now.

Asus GTX 1070 - 247.99
https://www.cdw.com/product/ASUS-GEFORCE-GTX-1070-8GB-DDR5-BSTK/5375591?pfm=srh

It looks like there was a 1080 Ti for 479.99 but I missed it.
https://www.cdw.com/product/EVGA-GEFORCE-GTX-1080-TI-ICX-GAMING/5373540?pfm=srh

Of course I have multiple cards and don't need anything right now but I have some weird compulsion and have to check the site on a regular basis anyway.
I guess it's like dogs chasing cars.....

good keep doing it because i rely on people with uncontrollable compulsions to post links to this stuff, don't always have the time to dig through their site to find stuff. :)

Ok so, stupid question wednesday ... would 2 GTX 1070 in SLI be better than 1 GTX 1080 Ti or is SLI pretty much going the way of the dodo bird

and, of course there's always an and

Would I be doing me a disservice buying the 1080 ti if my rig specs are this old and low?

I gotta find a way to buy one of this 2 cards but w/o taxes, otherwise, the good price goes out the window.

I find that finding deals somehow calms me from other stresses. I can't buy everything I find, so I pass on the deals so at least someone else can buy it. :D

This is kinda why I started posting my deals as I find them after a couple of deal posts saved me some cash on something I needed. (y) My little way of giving back. :)

sli's pretty much dunzo.. go with a 1080ti instead if you can get it for a good price. you're not going to find to many places that don't charge tax if your state requires it.. even sites that claim no taxes i still have to pay them because it's required in my state.

*wave* Hello from BG! Also, that is a really great deal on the RX 580s
Sweet! We should have a meetup of some sort at the Galloping Ghost. I've always wanted to go there and so does my cousin. Who else would be up for it?

Watchguard M300 High Availabilty and 1yr support for $460:
https://www.cdw.com/product/watchguard-firebox-m300-ha-w-1y-sup/5392661?pfm=srh

I don't think this will work as a standalone if it's activated, but I know most watchguard products will do the basic routing, etc fine even without activation. For what this hardware can do it's not a bad price if you want enterprise speed and reliability. We've got an M200 handing a 500/50 and 100/10 connection simultaneously with 2 IPsec tunnels nailed up 24x7 and the cpu never even hits 1%, and the uptime on it is currently 139 days. Really solid workhorses.

I ordered one of those H270 boards...No backplate, no cables, nothing. The B-Stock site says "We will never sell items that are defective, have more than minimal cosmetic damage or are missing needed parts."

Well, I'm trying to get them to refund $4.15 to buy a backplate from China.

Hmmm...technically an ioplate isn't a requirement. And actually, since the item is sold as 'new', I bet you could call MSI and just say it was missing all the stuff and they'll send it to you. I've not had great luck with damage or other non-straightforward returns to CDW, at least via sales people. The customer service seems to try, but I haven't been able to be persistent enough to get through tough returns and had to eat it, which I could stomach after I remembered all the steals I got on stuff in the outlet over the years. Kinda like how I thought about my only burn as a buyer on ebay--I was still far ahead in the long run.

Some deals $27 on 500gb and 1TB WD blacks and reds--this is probably the final price in the outlet before they go to liquidation, so they probably won't be there past weds:
https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-blk-500gb-7.2k-sata-6g-3.5in-64mb/5385932?pfm=srh

https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-red-1tb-5.4k-sata-6g-3.5in-64mb/5381165?pfm=srh

There's a few more dries in the pipeline that will drop to this price like these two that are currently $50:
https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-blk-500gb-7.2k-sata-6g-2.5in-32mb/5416255?pfm=srh
https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-blk-500gb-7.2k-sata-6g-3.5in-64mb/5414183?pfm=srh

Not a bad deal on a 3tb purple at $47, but I think it will drop one more time:
https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-purple-3tb-5.4k-sata-64mb-3.5in/5397652?pfm=srh

If you need a 230V UPS, this Eaton 1500VA one is a steal at $47. I would pick this up locally as I've had almost every UPS I've ever gotten from CDW heavily damaged in shipping (I had to eat them too):
https://www.cdw.com/product/eaton-5s-global-1500va-tow-208-230v/5364438?pfm=srh

Another one at $84. Probably won't drop any more since it's msrp is 2x the one above:
https://www.cdw.com/product/eaton-5sc-1500g-tower-208-240v-bstk/5364762?pfm=srh

The pricing on enterprise routers with 'services' is always difficult to see if it's a good deal, but this Fortigate 60e at $384 including 1 year 8x5 support and utm seems to be a winner:
https://www.cdw.com/product/fortinet-fwf-60e-1yr-8x5-fc-fg-utm/5398517?pfm=srh

This Watchguard M300 for High Availability setup with 1 year support is a steal at $373, but you have to be using it in an HA setup with another M300 so this isn't for everyone. That being said, without activation and registration, this will work fine as your basic router that can handle a gigabit internet connection, IPsec vpn tunnels, SSL vpn connections in and more. We have an M200 and it was one of the best upgrades we ever did--thanks to the outlet, as there was no way we could have afforded it otherwise.
https://www.cdw.com/product/watchguard-firebox-m300-ha-w-1y-sup/5392661?pfm=srh

If the Sophos XG135 is your thing, these bundles with 1 year of their 'service' are far below the $1000+ prices I found on the model number in some quick searches. Two of them at $550/ea:
https://www.cdw.com/product/soph-xg135-totalprotect-1y-bstk/5383807?pfm=srh
