CDROM not visible in BIOS

Hi, I want to ask you, experienced Guys, about an issue I have on my HP Pavillion DV 6950LA, AMD Turion X2, etc.
I cant see CD ROM on Bios (F34 upgraded) on previous F30, ex WIN XP, now Win 7 32bit installed also blind for that (Pioneer DVDRW DRmKD0xHB ATA Device), I tried with upper lfilters (how woult registry looks like, some screen shots would be very helpfull), and can see it but some minutes after it disapears again and cant never see again. I ask on this topic due I read about it can caused by Southbridge reflow needed, could it be? (Video runss fine)?? any tip on how to find solution?
in that case, I read about detailed post on doing reflow, very helpfull post!! let me ask a question: where do you put cooper shim? do you apply with thermal grease? shims thikness, dimension? you also left thermal pad under shim? do you need to force down chipset whuile melting solder?

any tip would be appreciatted.

Can you connect that CD-Rom driver to any other PC? It could be a dead CD drive
 
Hi Danny, I connected it to my brother `s Laptop (he has exact same HP DV 6950 LA as mine), and Bios detected fine, I also sweep and connected my brother drive to mine Laptop... nothing.
 
I'll be honest: I've never heard of anyone taking the steps you're talking about to fix the DVD drive issue.

Is the DVD drive seen in the BIOs?
 
Yes.

Why are you trying those things on an HP Pavilion? Windows 7 should have been able to identify the DVD drive, or (at worst) it could have installed some "generic" drivers that would have allowed you to use the drive.

Did you look for a firmware/driver update for the specific (brand/model) optical drive that you have?
 
If the drive can't be seen in the BIOs, then of course Windows can't see it. However, doing a "reflow" is a bit much considering that it's just a DVD drive. If it was the south-bridge, then the hard drive wouldn't be seen in the BIOs as well.

Also, was your brother's DV 6950 LA using the same BIOs version as you are?

What this guy said. Is it a Sata drive? Did you configure slave/master/CS pins if it is IDE? Have you tried swapping cables?
