Help, I keep getting this message, I can't find a satisfactory answer to this anywhere, so I haven't been able to update the driver for months. I get the message even in Administrator mode.
 
Right click on CCC icon and run it in administrator mode.
 
Ahh, thought it was another Vista related issue.

Have you uninstalled the old drivers and installed new drivers? In fact, it would help us if you tell us what you have done so far to fix your problem.

I've read posts on other forums about this exact same problem, and the people always say reinstalling doesn't fix it.
 
Try sfc /scannow

Apparently it worked for someone else in another forum.

No, because if I uninstall and the error message is still there, I won't be able to reinstall, I would then be forced to format. Besides, if reinstalling didn't work for others, it's not going to magically work for me.
 
It might, you never know. I've seen crazier things happen. Best thing would be to set a restore point just before you try, so that if it doesn't take, you're no worse for the wear.
 
Check your event viewer in computer management for any installation related events. It will tell you right away what the problem is. I'm betting that one of the driver file permissions is screwed up. If so, you will have to either reassign permissions of the offending file(s) so they can be deleted when the installer runs, or you will have to uninstall the driver, reboot into a recovery cd, then manually delete all the leftover driver files.
 
I am getting this message myself on a fresh install of server 2008 x64 - and i am logged in as admin, download the drivers for the es1000 for a dell sc440 system, i need the proper drive, not stock VGA as i am using this rig as a test bed server so i will be using it and i have a 22' LCD for it and need wide screen res (which i know this system supports)
 
FIGURED IT OUT!

So here is what I have done.
- Download x64.zip file from ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/VGA/ATI/RageXL/x64.zip
- Run/Expand the zip to same directory
- DO NOT run the setup file or you will get the error message,
"Setup will only run in Administrator mode. Setup is aborting"
- Launch Device Mgr
- Expand the Video Driver and update Standard Video Drive. Point to directory x64.
- The server will need to reboot
- Display settings can be raised from 1024x786(16bit) to 1280x1024(32bit)

Note: 1600x1200 (16bit) is available but does not work on mine. If you set it to this setting and the video does not come back, connect up a higher resolution monitor and set it back.
