I have an issue with my wd7501aals cavier black 750gb. Playing music from all my other internal HDD is fine, but with this one I get skips.

According to S.M.A.R.T everything is fine. Its only done about 50GB of downloading. But it is my warmest drive sitting at the top of the case rack it is averaging 53F to 55F.

Is it possibly thermal throttling? Install a better fan and good to go, or is it best to replace it ?

fans dont do anythng.

what does HD tuner say or crystal disk info. more extensive tests will let us know.

or maybe your read speeds are bad?

sorry 53C,

I run the hd tuner. Its definately a read issue, as the music file plays I can see the skips in the foobar visualization. This is a H67 but bought it after the sata rev/fix and it shows the correct rev, ut it sure does seem like the intital problem these boards had.

I thought HDD's throttled when they got too warm?

Try a different port on the Motherboard. Different cable.

Music is very low bandwidth, so something is seriously wrong if that skips.

Does video do the same thing?

I work in HVAC and I can say with total certainty that fans do indeed do things. If it's running at 53C and the room air is 25C then a fan is probably an excellent way to cool it off. 50C is getting on the warm end of things for sure, I try to keep drives under 40 if I can. With fans where required.
