Catalyst 9.5

Win 7 RC Build 7100 x64 and Cat 9.5

NO GPU SCALING FOR ME EITHER!!!

All grayed out like the above screen.

Edit: My LCD does 1:1 pixel mapping tho, so I'm not overly concerned. I just wish the driver wasn't gimped.

people WANT GPU scaling? it always pisses me the fuck off on my Sam LN32A550 LCDTV cause it's on a random % by default and looks like shit.

Same OS I'm using. Must be a 4770 thing...

And it also works with (surprisingly) my HD3450 (256 MB PCIe) driving my new Acer H233H (DVI-D input).

Windows 7 RC 64-bit.

Also, Burnout Paradise looks gorgeous at 1280x720 (non-interlaced), which is Real Surprising, since it's a non-native resolution.

And the *text* has to be seen to be believed (crisp and clean).

Has anyone noticed that the default fan control is much better? My videocard no longer sounds like a vacuum when I game! It speeds up a little bit only as it needs to. Anyone else?

That would be nice, but isn't it a problem with the game, I thought Nvidia cards had the problem as well.

It's not a "problem" if you're referring to the massive slowdown by enabling SSAO on both brands.

It's a pretty inefficient SSAO method that is causing it. That's just how the game is.

I don;t have an advanced button in CCC 9.5, just teh basic- in my case screen res only.

I'm back to the 9.4's on my 3870, under Vista x64 First driver issue with any catalyst version (going back to an x800!)

How about the SSAO in empire total war? Any relation?

Nope, not the shitty framerate hit, the ugly ass look of it, has to be bugged.

Haven't tried 9.5's yet, still on 9.4's.

Power lines look terrible and cannot be missed, but its noticeable on bridges, railings and other lines too.

I can't get Jedi Knight 2 - Jedi Outcast to run on the cat 9.5s Can anyone else play this game?

Performance in 9.4 was great with Defense Grid The Awakening (tower defense game) and now it is like 10fps even with very little on the screen. Anyone else experience this?

Hangs for ~10 seconds every five minutes in GTA4 (leaving "Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered" popups when I exit), and consistently CTDs in Riddick: AoDA within five seconds.

Back to 9.4 for the time being...

Hey guys, quick question, are there any gaming/general benefits if you install the ATI Catalyst control panel, as to just installing the drivers?

An update for me- I was able to install the 9.5's with CCC fine after running the ms x64 update readiness tool. Stillc an;t do Vista SP2 though.

9.5's fixed a text issue in FSX that I was experiencing- blocky washed out text. This is the second time they've fixed this in Vista x64 based on my bug reports. They respond really fast to this issue as it's always made the next driver update after I report it.

I have a 4850 which has always artifacted in a few games. In the Win 7 RC, it seems to artifact in even more games than it does under Vista. I am hoping that these drivers help. I will install them (as well as reinstall the card) after work.

Ya, you may want to make sure it's not getting too hot or something...

I do not think there are. I never install it.

Sure you can do tricks with dual monitors (Windows does all the basic mult monitor stuff I need) and FORCE MSAA or AF but I do not care for them so I never install CCC.

And I do not think the card was getting too hot, I think it was just permanently damaged or defective. I put it inside of a Vista system recently and the problems which I thought got worse inside Windows 7 showed up in Vista too. The card was still under newegg warranty so I actually sent it in for an exchange.
