looks like new overdrive overclocking engine in release, maybe it will be more reliable establishing stable clocks?

"unauthorized download" @ your release notes link FYI

Also you don't need seperate links for Vista and 7, they are the same thing. Just diff bit versions.

Wow!!!

You guys fixed alot of problems!!!

Keep up the good work.

Anyone else getting an "Installer integrity check has failed" error? I'm downloading the Windows 7 x64 btw. Trying vista now-

Just installed with the Vista x64 download and it installed alright. Still can't run my 2nd 30" any higher than 1280X800... stupid drivers.

Looks like the stuttering in WoW is gone. In the 9.3s, when you spun around after looking a certain direction for a while, it would stutter pretty bad. FPS stayed the same though.

Looks silky smooth now :)

I can't get it to install in Windows 7 x64 (7068). It says it installs correctly, but the version never changes, and I never get prompted for approval to install the display adapter

Yeah, I thought there was something missing when I "installed" the drivers. I just checked and I am still on 9.3 as well.

I am also on Windows 7 x64 (7068)

Isn't Windows 7 still experimental at this point in time?

I wouldn't expect it to work in W7 just yet.

So what you are saying is NEITHER one of you uninstalled the old drivers first and that neither of you used a driver cleaner first before upgrading?

So try doing it correctly:

Run ATI uninstall (do not reboot yet)
Run Driver Sweeper to finish cleaning out all old ATI drivers
Reboot
Install New ATI Drivers
Reboot
Enjoy 9.4

installed the 9.4's last night on a fresh Vista 64 install with a brand new 4890. Crashed every 3d app i loaded. Uninstalled and went with v 9.3 which work fine...

Actually if you want to get technical you're wrong as well.

ATI says install right over top the old drivers. I've been doing it that way and have never had a problem. But mileage varies from person to person. But you shouldn't say "try doing it correctly" when people will do what works for them because that is what they perceive as "the right way."

The 9.3 Cats do not give me any issues so I don't know if I'll upgrade to 9.4 or not. Maybe if I'm bored but then again if it ain't broke don't fix it. ;)

coorectly as in your opinion? ATI says install over old driver. I never have uninstalled the old driver.

Installed ON TOP OF the 9.3's. No reboot needed. Everything seems stable after giving it a run through gamer hell. That's all I'm looking for at this point.

you are now not given the option to install wow trial, you are forced to install it. anyway, installed over the top of 9.2, runs fear2, l4d, tf2 and fc2 fine.

It's actually just a link, not the game. It's a mild annoyance at best. Hey, money from Blizzard means more money for AMD, which means better prices for consumers. It's a give and take.

Using the Express install, yes. I did Custom and was able to install 9.4 without WoW or the registration tool.

On my crossfire HD4850 set up UT3 is working better. I can adjust the 3d settings and the game will play. Before I had to leave the setting for the most part on "apllication" settings or it would be unplayable.

Also I can play UT3 for much longer without it crashing. Not sure why UT3 is crashing so much on my machine. I'm working on that.

Keep working on them drivers ATI.

i've never ever had to do this before, and i did try uninstalling and then installing the new ones. still no dice. maybe the cleaner would make it work, but it's never been necessary before

This is no longer required with the Cat 9s - it seems like the days of needing a voodoo priestess on call for your driver install are long gone.

It's not that hard to do a clean install.

Makes no sense to start off a new driver with a mess of scattered parts of different drivers.

The only time I actually had issues with installing ati drivers was when I followed the long, unnecessary way of using drivercleaner/sweeper,etc. by way of peoples recommendation. (not sure why I listened)

My way of doing it is to uninstall -> delete all the ati folders (app data, etc) reboot -> install new drivers -> reboot and everything always works. (from cat 8.6/7 -> 9.4 done this way)

I've never experienced a CTD, blue screen, or a bug - save for overclocking too high when running Crysis and the vid blanks out for a sec.

Honestly had more issues using nvidia drivers with the GTX 285s. To each their own

My machine had a problem with Xfire performance when I went from 8.7 to 8.8 and I did a clean install and problem was gone.

It's not hard to do a clean install. Computers work better with less data to get confused on.

Im missing the 3d settings from the menu :/

Win 7 beta (7000) with 2 4870s in crossfire

Yea, I think ATI fubared the Windows version number in the setup.inf file and that is why there are problems on 7. If you open both up, they both have the same NT number, but one has only the 7 supported cards listed. Seriously, is it that hard to get the right version of Windows right in the inf?

How depressing, I currently have an 1800XT 512mb and ATI considers it a legacy product. Catalyst 9.4 drivers don't work for my card. :(

About time to upgrade.

installs fine on fresh W7 7068 install but CCC never loads and im stuck with the default underscan for my 1080p HDTV

installed 9.3 and everything works fine

I heard that a driver for those legacy cards will be released every 3 months, so the next working driver for you should be 9.5 or 9.6

On a fresh install of Vista 64 Ultimate, with a 4830 (my wife's brand new machine), won't install the driver itself; says that it won't permit an "untrusted kernel mode driver". Great.... I can't get the driver for ATI installed for the first Radeon I've bought in 6 years (well, not quite, but my 8 year old daughter's AGP Radeon doesn't count; it's an old DX8.1 part). And the driver on disk doesn't work, either.

Anybody have a clue as to how to get this thing installed? Like I said, BRAND NEW Vista U64 install; it's still busy downloading patches from Windows Update right now.

Personally I never install any drivers (beyond what Windows installs by default) until after Windows has finished updating. I'd wait till Vista is fully updated, download Cat 9.4 again to make sure it's not corrupt and then try installing again.

That suggests the driver isn't signed. Vista 64 won't allow you to install unsigned drivers, unless you press F8 at startup and select disable driver signing.

It should be signed though.

That is good news, but unfortunatly I probably won't be able to take advantage of it.

I just upgraded my monitor from a 19" CRT to a 28" LCD and need more horsepower anyway. Will be picking up a 4890 within a month. (unless for some reason the price goes up)
