nice, are the drivers for the AVIVO device included with these yet?

Yay I got a nice performance boost in stalker but the shadows glitch now.

I hope these 7.3 can Fold and not crash UFO:Afterlight game.

edit:

Well it seems to be folding ok and my favorite game UFO:AL does not crash anymore. Happy customer here :)

Yes, but does it fix the Overdrive flickering problem?

Update: Nope, still that same annoying green flickering whenever I try to use Overdrive.

Known Issues Under the Windows Vista Operating System

IL2 Sturmovik->Forgotten Battles: Setting the in-game hardware options to custom and landscape detail to perfect may result in the water textures appearing corrupt when playing the game under the Windows Vista operating system. Further details can be found in topic number 737-26687

I tried looking it up and topic 737-26687 doesnt exist in the database!

Running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. The 7.2 Cats were problem-free on this system and STALKER ran fine. Uninstalled 7.2, restart, installed 7.3, restart, BSOD!, system reboots itself, drivers seem to load OK on second boot and I am at the desktop. I tried rebooting the system again and sure enough another BSOD, reboot, then back to the desktop. I tried running STALKER with the 7.3 drivers and it seemed to run fine. I ended up uninstalling the 7.3 Cats and reinstalling 7.2 and all seems stable again. There are a couple of posts over on the Rage3D board about BSODs with these drivers here. Here is a quote from one of the posts:

I did have one problem with installation though.

I'm on Vista Ultimate and system is in my Sig.

Uninstalled -> Rebooted -> installed 7.3 -> rebooted -> Logged In and got a BSOD when logging in.

Went into Safe mode and disabled the ATI service and disabled the CCC startup. No more BSOD. I can start both the service and the CCC after login has been completed with no issues and everything works fine. To me this is minor though because I rarely reboot.

Downloaders beware!
BTW, I am running X1950XTX 512MB card.

Had the same issue with the BSOD, going back to the 7.2's

BSOD here too. win32k.sys always causes this.

I went back to 7.2 and no problems.

Hmm, guess 7.3's not so good for Vista users. It's installed on my XP 32-bit just fine. No noticeable performance increase (although I haven't had a chance to play around with them too much), but they haven't caused any problems. They actually fixed a weird HDR glitch I was having in the Call of Juarez demo, but other than that, not much difference.

I use Vista and have no problems with 7.3. However I did not unistall 7.2, I just installed on top of them......

So did i....still bsod....

i guess it has to do with the chipset of the mobo. Are you running a 965/975 chipset?

only thing different, was got some weird artifacting in WoW last night. Had some weird yellow/red streaks following every person in the game. Alt-tabbed and came back to the game and it was fixed.

I was getting a weird mom.eve error with the 7.2's, these seem to have fixed that.

Now, whenever I change AA settings in WoW, the CCC host dies and I lose ADAA and HQ AF. I have to reboot the computer to get it back.

Lame.

I realize this probably doesn't affect most people more than maybe once, and only if they are setting up their game after updating drivers, but it affects me a lot, so I'm going to gripe about it. During the course of running evaluations on video cards, I change those settings quite frequently. It is a huge pain in the butt to have to reboot every time.

yup, lame driver set. I'm sure they'll actually pull it sooner or later from their site and give us a fixed version.

At least I am not alone in having cold boot crashes since installing 7.3. though I don't always get a BSOD, most times the computer freezes when it hits the Windows screen then reboots. Will revert to 7.2 since I had less issues with it. Also having issues when playing Oblivion with the new Catalyst version. First the game is exteremly sluggish, and then after a short while it freezes then crashes into windows Vista. Granted ATI officaly does not support Oblivion, and I always had slow perfromance in game with my x1950xtx I never had so many
crashes.

Specs:

Intel 6400,
ATI X1950XTX
2GB ram
ASUS P5B-D board.
Creative X-FI.

975. However I only rebooted after the driver install then spent about 30 mins on the computer before turning it off, so maybe I just need to give it more time for a BSOD. I will see what happens tonight.

Installed them last night, ran 3dmark and everything was perfectly fine. I didn't even uninstall the old ones, just installed over-top, rebooted and they worked.

None of the common BSOD on boot here 'though I did get a couple during gaming which I didn't get with 7.2's. Also getting a "Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered" message with these, where as with the 7.2's I got "R300 has stopped responding". This is in Vista, XP runs with no problems.

i had the same issues with 7.3 as with 7.1, System will not boot (BSOD's) if there is 2gigs of ram. If i remove one, it's ok. I'm sticking with 7.2 for now as I have had 0 issues with that driver set.
Note this is in Vista 64x

The ASUS 7.3's work perfectly with me, no errors on stalker or nothing, just me dying alot :p

Works just fine for me.
Running win-xp sp2. Slight performance increase over 7.1 and 7.2 in 3dMark-06.

CCC was crap on xp, but in vista it's a total fuckin mess,

this thing can't even remove or reinstall itself properly, and of course ati is too lame to write a vista driver cleaner

fuckin garbage

 WHY ARE THE DRIVERS STILL POSTED.

Im just mad because anyone who owns a 1950GT is totally screwed.

Yep, I had about 4 or 5 BSODs within a day or so after installing this crappy driver set. It would also crash my games (CNC3) back to the desktop and would also make my dreamscene background fail. I reverted back to 7.2 and everything is fine.

Now seriously, did they even freakin test these drivers? UNREAL!

This is on Vista x64 Premium btw.

Better solution to take advantage of 3D clock speeds ;):

After waiting a long time for the Catalyst 7.3 drivers to be released i was really disappointed because it still didn't fix the hangups for me. It just made things worse.. I found out it's still related by the Ati External Event service. After searching a long time (today 6 hours) for a solution i have found one that will make it work if you are having lockups everytime vista boots.
The strangest thing is that it doesn't occur while ingame lol.
The Service itself will boot just fine when you are in vista but when vista is booting it just locks the whole system up in a strange way with the famous win32k.sys error..

I fixed it like this:

Start vista in safemode.

open services.msc.

Set the Ati External Event Utility in manual mode.

Open your startup folder in your start menu with "explore with all users".

In this folder make a file named AtiExternalServiceStart.bat or a name you prefer.

edit this file and add the following line:

net start Ati External Event Utility

This will start the Ati service later in time so it will not conflict with vista

Reboot

enjoy x1950xt's or other ati card suffering from the bug at full potential (@3D clock speeds)under vista;)

I already sent an e-mail to Ati to let them know what i have discovered
grtz,

Chac.

Works great here :) got a 1900XTX.

Made Stalker run 100% bettetr from 7.2 cats.

Nice quality testing ATi has... NOT~!!

How in the world does something like this happen?

Are there any internal testing being done for these drivers?

And whats up with these latest drivers causing the infinite loop error....
Seems like since Cat 7.0+ the infinite loop error is back with a vengence!
Along with other bugs.

My 3dmark06 scores dropped 600 points!

Do new drivers reset registry tweaks?

Gaming performance doesn't really look affected so I don't know if I really care or not at this point.

Edit: I forgot about that 2D/3D clock switcher, I had to disable it, as it was setting 620/720 instead of my regular 3D clocks. Fixed.
