Catalyst 5.3

umm is anyone else having problems with 5.3 i got first a vpu restart and it didnt crash i was playin cs. so i thoguht it was a one time thing but then i got it again and the whole system crashed i dont know what is going on if it is me or the drivers ive never had this problem and some otehr kids i meet said they were having problmes wit 5.3

To anyone who wants to know, the 5.3s work great, the resolution going to 1280x1024 at start-up the first time is normal and whats supposed to happen. There IS a PROBLEM however.........i use a file sharing program called LimeWire and it gets completely distorted when i installed the 5.3s. Going back to any other cat will fix it, and i tried every version of limewire from the first to last and nothing worked with the 5.3s. Limewire is the best file sharing program ever, its so fast and you can get ANYTHING. The other day i got 3dmark2001,2003,2005 PRO registation codes from limewire and now i have the pro edditions of the programs, and its awesome because you can pick what tests you wanna run and alot of other options opened up. Anyway, i wont sacrfice limewire for a driver, so i notified ATI and back to the 5.2s i go.

Broken Forum Rules?

Illegality?

There you go children, I know you could.

well, back to driver discussion.....

I installed the OMega driver (5.1 cat) since I had never used them and wanted to give it a go. It works great, ecpet that I started to notice a slight flickering problem in EQ2. The hotbar buttons seem to have a slight flickering around their border...

And maybe it's just me, but I SWEAR that UT2k4 looked pretty awesome, and I did not see any jaggies. Its wierd because I could've sworn I had seen the jaggies even though I have AA and AF turned up...so it always seemed strange that I was seeing them.

Anywho...I think I might go to 5.3 cat since this slight flickering in EQ2 is bugging me out.
Does anybody have any other opinions on the 5.3 and what games they've tested them on?
Also, when is the Omega driver dude going to be doing 5.2 and 5.3???

Thanks. and oh, I hate limewire. Bit Torrent is much better.
:D

this is f'n crazy

9600xt before:

3d mark 2003: 41xx
3dmark 2005: 16xx

after:

2k3: 4330
2k5: 1884

yes, all settings on default.

I switched from a 5950 Ultra to a x800 XT-PE. One thing I can't STAND is that damn Catalyst Control Center. No way in HELL am I gonna wait 5 minutes for it to load. So I downgraded to the standard control panel and use tray tools.

I like the CCC and all but I have to agree with this RedneckHunter Guy, dude, fellow, lad. I cant stand the amount of time it takes to load the damn thing. If it didnt take so longI think I would be using it. Of course it is not a real complaint since the Standard Control panel is the same thing but in a much more "Old School" manner.
Also the 5.3s are great for me. Except that in CSS with my X800XT the Stress Test scores range from the mid 40s to the high 80s. This is with Everything up all the way and AA and AF up to 6xAA and 16xAF... Well it doesnt really matter in game is still beautiful and still playable.

My X850XT PCI-E is coming this friday. I am upgrading from a BFG 6800GT OC. I am a little skeptical right now, but we will see once I install it along with my NF4 mobo.......I hope the 5.3s aren't as buggy as ATI drivers in the past.....and I hope they are as stable as my forcewares.

So far I have not had any problems with the Cat 5.3's, other than the lame CCC. It is nice to look at and the interface kicks ass but I don't have an hour to set everything up.

FYI cat 5.2 and 5.3 are totally screwed on Doom 3 and RoE.
You will get unexplainable drops to 10 fps. Reverted to 5.1 and the bad stuttering is gone.

So we have ati 5.1 5.2 and 5.3...omega and a few other 5.1 and 5.2 drivers.
Whats best omega 5.1?

have not seen any post on the newer omega 5.2.

I had ZERO problems all through Doom3 ROE untill I get to this ONE area and all hell breaks lose. Can't remember the actual area. Seems there is some type of active screen, xray type thigy. The zombies behind it glow green and all you see are thier bones...I drop to 5 fps after going no less than 55 fps on ULTRA settings throughout the whole game so far. Spent 2 hours tweaking the card with Tray Tools and NOTHING fixed it. Was crazy.

That and I had serious issues after that with the sudden drop to 5 fps and the screen was torn bad. Everything went black at a tangent to the reticule with the exception of a few areas. Had to exit the game and then come back to fix it.

I tried the 5.1's and 5.3's and wasn't impressed. I've been on the 4.9's for a month now again and they work great.
