Catalyst 10.8 released

borderlands is still fucked
BC2 still forces monitor to default overscan settings

..I've had this ATI card for maybe a week and I am ready to switch

I've got the 10.8's installed on my two Asus Radeon 5870 1GBs, and Half Life 2: Lost Coast looks great. No problems here, yet.

Are the new video settings really that bad? I was kind of happy to see they set defaults for them as I never know how to adjust.

ATI just fixed the issues and not by cat 8 but by the new profiles for AvP and BFbC2. See article on homepage, MASSIVE performance boosts in both games.

I ran 10.7 driver and 10.7 CAP versus 10.8 driver and 10.8a CAP last night in AvP and BC2 on my EyeFinity computer.
Using 6000x1200, full video effects except for AO in BC2 and Blur in AvP I got maybe 6-10 FPS more using the 10.8a application profiles.

The games ran very well in 10.7, in other words, on my EF setup, I didn't see any great changes in gameplay.....and I certainly wouldn't call the improvement massive.

You can see my sig, both games used the same run-through three times. A full 3 1/2 minute run was made with plenty of action in both. FRAPS was used to record FPS min-ave-max.

Do you have crossfired cards? I was able to up my AA and it still runs smoother.

those new video settings that are enabled by default makes a blu ray video look like a divx, so uncheck all the options in the 'advanced quality' tab

mosquito noise reduction? what the hell?

If your neighborhood has lots of mosquitos, I guess this will keep them away?

yup, Crossfired 5870 E6s..........marginal improvement , IMO.

I retract my statement

I did a driver sweep and cleared all traces of every other driver, and then re-installed 10.8

I don't have a problem with any game at this point.. borderlands is fine, BC2 is fine.. everything just seems to work.

FUCKING FINALLY

Bordelrands is working fine with 10.8. 10.6 and 10.7 were not.

I'm in Tri-Crossfire (5970+5870) and 10.8 is working great with Borderlands. Not a single crash/freeze in the last 2 days. :)

10.8 is working fine with BFBC2. Running DX10 b/c of the greater fps. I hit 180 fps at times at 1900x1200 with a single 5870 2XMSAA and mostly high/meduim settings.

Do your monitors get put back in the correct order when you switch from an Eyefinity profile to an Extended Desktop profile, or do you still have to apply the profile a second time to get the order correct?

This bug seriously pisses me off. I was using 10.4a for a while, but it started doing it seemingly at-random, so now I'm back to 10.3.

I still get random crashes esp when using OpenGL apps in 10.8, seems I have the most updated firmware too, still stuck on 10.5 to avoid system crashes and GSODs -_-

4870x2 2nd gpu being stuck in 2d mode still present in these drivers..

3rd month in a row! I am going back to 10.5a again or the TwL drivers....

Same issues as 10.6 and 7 with BF BC2. Stick with 10.5A if you are playing BC2.

THANK YOU. im glad i stumbled across this post. i recently added a 2nd 4870x2 and bought BC2. with crossfire enabled or Catalyst AI enabled, the game will crash 2-4 mins in. when i disable crossfire or Catalyst AI (one or the other works) i dont crash anymore.

i will try 10.5a and see what happens.

10.8 + 2 monitors = horrible video lag in World of Warcraft and few other games with 'Hardware Cursor' turned on.

Did they fix this:

Turn off your Displayport monitor and everything get shifted to the extended monitor and now this monitor is your primary monitor!

searched internet, uninstalled all, used a driver cleaner, still no joy....
cant get into CCC, I might see if i can roll back to 10.6 which work at that time.

The fact that it doesn't remember my overscan settings is getting old.

Since I purchased my 5870's last year, the drivers have really gone down the shitter IMHO. The 10.5a's were rock solid, but since....as I said, down the shitter.

I am most prob moving back to the Nvidia camp after this go around with ATI....
this

i love my 5870, and my gf loves her 4890...even moved off a gtx260 for it.

however the drivers have been a constant fight since i got these cards.

i really dont like a lot of nvidia's practices and a few things have left a bad taste in my mouth....

but i'm pretty tired of the driver go round on the amd camp, may just wait for a good deal on something comparable to my 5870 outta the nvidia camp and jump

gf may soon get a 460

I'm likely making the jump back, too. I'll take Nvidia's "new drivers every week" over this fix this/break that system.
