Case Suggestions

Looking to upgrade my case, as I've had the same for my last 2 systems. Looking for good upgrades in airflow, and cable management. I don't really care about looks

Ideally atm I'm looking at the Cooler Master haf 932. It's a little bit taller than I'd ideally like, and a little bit expensive (buying with new ram/heatsink and wanna keep it under $250 total, puts me at $267 w/ shipping)

Other than that looking at the Antec 900, which is good in the airflow, good in its a little shorter, good that its ~$30 cheaper, but the big thing for me is the limited options in cable management for the case.

Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on something that would fit those requirements.

Hmm, I don't think I've seen the HAF side-by-side with the 900 but I've seen it side-by-side with my TT M9 (very similar dimensions to the 900) and the HAF seemed a good deal larger and heavier... Might be more case than you need, then again, you didn't really tell us what's going into it.

Isn't there a newer version of the 900 out now? Thought I saw a review for a 2nd edition of it... I went with the Thermaltake M9 (VI1000BWS) for a recent build simply because it was the best/smallest case I could find locally. I saw the 900 for like $15 more at BB but I liked the fan and drive cage arrangement of the M9 better. I particularly liked how I could move the 3.5 drive cage up (and thus, the fan attached to it), moves airflow closer to the GPU/CPU area and gives me room to have a decoupled HD on the bottom of the case (below the cage).

I'm still setting up my system in it but cable management isn't too bad once you figure out you can snake some cables out around the external 3.5" bay (where I have a media card reader) and between the front bezzel and case (a cross-bar prevents snaking them behind the 5.25" bays directly if you're routing them towards the bottom of the case). Dunno if I'm explaining that clearly... All the front bay covers have filters too.

I'm not too worried about size other than height, the case is going underneath a desk and cases with a top fan i want enough room for good airflow, the haf 932 is just at the edge of what i want height wise, would prefer a lil shorter though.

Other than that for cable management really looking for something that has routing behind the mobo tray, such as he haf 932

Yeah those holes help w/cable management for sure, though that still looks like a mess (I guess the short ATX cable and case fan hooked up to the mobo contribute to that). Gotta have long PSU cables if you're gonna have it at the bottom!

The Antec P182 is the best case I have ever worked with. The thought given to cable management is apparent. I have no wad of unused PSU cables sitting around. Everything is behind the mobo tray, and where power is needed there is a hole to route power to the front. All the unused cables stay hidden. Check out some review and pics, it is an awesome case. From time to time it is on sale, and I have seen it as low as $90. Mine was $130 after MIR.

I keep the stock fans on low and I added a Noctua NF-P12 to the front optional fan location to pull more air through. I had 2 of them but the second one doesn't fit with the GTX280. Everything stays nice and cool in my overclocked system and does it while being nearly silent. The one tweak I had to make was to lower the speed of my intake fan by 10% to get balanced airflow in/out. It made a funky pulsating noise prior to that.

You can get an Cooler Master ATCS840 for about 183 and some change. Big tower and has cable management holes. Though I heard some complain about the airflow, but its easily remedied. The Cooler Master CM690 is also a good choice. The cable management is good, the price is decent, and not a bad looking case.

The HAF 932 is $124.99 w/FS with the EMCLRPL24 code ($15 off) at newegg.

Pretty soon places should be stocking the HAF 922, which is about the size you appear to be looking for, but it should retail for $129.99 iirc, so still more expensive than the 932 deal here.

get the HAF. it's huge and has some of the best air cooling available...

Ditto for the HAF 922. Its bigger than the P182 by Antec but not quieter. You can see details on the website here.
